There's a case I quoted earlier that I'm involved in where the wife is also sticking by the bloke. Our whole focus is what's in the best interest of the kids and her. She spends those meetings 'warning him' and 'cursing him' but she'll never leave him. For 2 reasons, firstly the effect it's having on the kids without their dad and so she wants that family unit BUT way above that, is a complete lack of self-belief or self-confidence or self-worth to think she can go on with her life without him. Actually more than that, it's the idea of having the world she knows and understands suddenly being taken away/changing. A big part of that is down to him btw, he's made her believe this. I wonder whether there's an element of that with the women you mentioned... particularly with Rolf Harris?
