Annie Power entered at Punchestown next week
    BY STUART RILEY 1:47PM 11 FEB 2016
WILLIE MULLINS has tantalised racing fans by giving Annie Power an entry at Punchestown on Wednesday, although his son Patrick has revealed she is unlikely to run.

Annie Power's name appeared among the ten entered for the 31C punchestown.com Mares' Hurdle and Mullins and owner Rich Ricci have stated she would come under consideration for the World Hurdle if they were able to get a run into her.

The eight-year-old is a best-priced 8-1 for the World Hurdle, although she is no bigger than 5-1 with any firm offering the non-runner-no-bet concession.

She is the 8-11 favourite for the OLBG.com Mares' Hurdle and that is where the trainer's son Patrick suggested she would head when speaking on At The Races on Thursday.

"It looks like she'll probably go straight to Cheltenham. I think time would be running out to get a run into her. That's not 100 per cent confirmed, but I would imagine she'll go straight to Cheltenham.

"The World Hurdle is a very tough race and to go there on your first run of the season would be very difficult. I think if you're going there on your first run of the season you take the easier option, which would be the mares' race.

"That would look the logical way to do things. Annie is 100 per cent. Ruby [Walsh] rode her work and was very happy with her. "

Damnit, I looked at the bumpers last night and had a decent punt on the double.....STORM PATROL @ 6/1 and BRIGHT EYES @ 7/4. Suzy Smiths beautifully bred mare has been worn down by a more experienced rival there........you can have your mortgage now on the Henderson mare in the last as it means nothing to me.

Hendersons was rubbish but even more annoying was the each way saver double on Storm Patrol and Beyond Measure. Used up all my good fortune last week!

Cheers Ste, saw your post earlier and back AUGUSTINE and have it in about 7 doubles of which one has already won and one not. Rest are at Chelmsford. However I took the early price in shop with no BOG. Gutted it drifted out but it won so can't complain.

As a serial complainer about Irish Graded races and the quality of fields can I just go on record and say that the Grade 2 Denman Chase at Newbury is just about the worst Grade 2 field I have ever seen in all my years following racing #whataloadofcack

Any darts fans, early stages in the premier league but James Wade had a big win last week who tonight faces rookie who got smashed 7-0 in his opener. Evens on Wade looks good value. I have also taken a large single and doubled with Wade, Anderson to beat MVG. Granted MVG is top class but so is Gando and at 5/2 is definitely worth a punt

No outstanding horses in there at all! Last year we had Coneygree, year before Harry Topper, then Silviniaco Conti and Long Run before that, this year we have a couple of grade 3 horses and at best a horse or two that would be placed at very best in any other grade 3! Ballynagpour the highest rated horse in the field says it all has had one good race over fences then fell next time out , and last three runs has lost to Cue Card and has been pulled up or tailed off at Grade 1 level all, Rocky Creek is a solid grade 3 jumper but no way would he be taking a gold in a Normal grade 2 with actual grade 2 horses . The Giant Bolster who age is getting the better of him - Splash Of Ginge who has not showed anything since switching to fences last 4 runs over fences P7URPU, Houblon Des Obeaux the only really grade 2 horse but needs the ground like a bog to see anything like some good form from him, Bob Ford - improving horse but on form a good handicapper at best and Midnight Appeal having his first run since August has shown nothing on previous so there my quick view on the race

Can't resist a small Ew wager on Tandem in the last at Meydan 8/1.Doesn't have the strongest form coming into the race but Mr Weld wouldn't be sending him over if he wasn't showing something at home.

Vimy Ridge 33/1 ew in the next at Chelmsford. Well worth a go each way at the price, this horse is definetly capable of a big run.
