Much was recently made of the highly unusual sponsorship deal Ashley struck with golfers Westwood and Clarke for basically wearing the "Dunlop" brand free in return for £1million if either won the British Open.

Now i would have assumed Ashley would have milked this for all it was worth. Photos/PR/interviews etc. All I saw was one half page ad in either the Daily Mail or Chronicle congratulating Clarke.

So has anyone seen photographic evidence of this "cheque" being handed over , or was it a PR story?

Actually, I saw a poster of Clarke advertising Dunlop on a sports direct in Derby today. Thought it was kinda odd as it was featuring him holding the Open trophy. Makes sense now I guess.

Yes he will and it won't have cost him £1m anyway as he will have taken insurance out against it. The cost to him (Sports Direct) will be the insurance quote or stake, probably £250k tops. The advertising he has gained will easily be worth the money.

Saw the photo on the news. He was stood in Trafalgar Square and Spprts Direct's logo on the cheque. Remember yelling at the TV "Put that money towards another striker you fat twat!"

I love the way some fans seem to think that all Ashley's holdings are all linked together, like Fat Mike has a big swimming pool filled with cash like McScrooge the Duck. And come out comments about if Sports Direct is making so much money why doesn't he spend it on Newcastle.
