Antti's knee jerks.... http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footba...in-a-home-win-ring-out-the-bells-–-knee-jerks Clive's report.... http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footba...’-header-seals-win-despite-late-panic--report
Very encouraging reports, plus I finally had the opportunity to view the highlights, which us overseas folks were frozen out from on that Sky link. Appears we should have scored a few more goals given our opportunities, that would have relieved all that stress in the closing minutes.
Disagree with Antti's criticisms of 4-4-2 massively. With a front 2 who work as hard as Polter and Washington it is defensively strong. Plus a midfield pairing of Luongo and Faurlin who do both sides of the game this side has balance. It's attacking when we have the ball and defensive when we dont. What Atlethtico Madrid have done so well in recent years and Leicester this year, the midfield four can drop off don't worry about having the ball, worry about keeping your shape and only really reacting when the balls in 'danger areas'. The centre forwards will drop onto centre midfielders to squeeze the possession and at times one will follow a full back and that winger moves in making it a 4-5-1 I guess because people have become so used to 4-2-3-1 that it's forgotten that a centre midfielder like Faurlin doesn't necessarily need to be 'more interested in attack'. They can do both. Don't get his issue with Luongo this is literally the first time he's played in his proper position but says, 'the steel was there' this time and 'he won more of the ball'. He's generally played out of position off the striker for us, not the sort of position that rely's on steel. His and Ale's performance along with the strikers giving no rest and our shape did force Ipswich to play direct more than they would like to. So not enough credit is given This system suits our squad. Washington can be our Griezman and Polter (or Mackie) our Jackson Martinez. Sorted
