This is on the Pompey official site and makes for interesting reading; When Pompey trounced Leicester 6-1 last September to kick-start their season, the Foxes looked to be relegation fodder. Goals from Liam Lawrence (2), Dave Kitson (2), David Nugent and Michael Brown saw the Blues run riot at Fratton Park and avenge a 2-1 Carling Cup defeat by the midlands outfit just three days earlier. But Leicester were about to be bought out, with wealthy Thai backers taking over from former Pompey owner Milan Mandaric. Manager Paulo Sousa would soon make way for ex-England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson and fortunes slowly improved, with players like former Pompey forwards Yakubu and Diomansy Kamara helping push the Foxes up the table.Pompey dented their rise with David Nugent scoring the winner in a 1-0 triumph at the Walkers Stadium â which has since been rebranded as the King Power Stadium. But Nugent has now swapped sides with Leicesterâs owners starting to flex their financial muscles. He joins Kasper Schmeichel, Matt Mills, Lee Peltier, Sean St Ledger, Neil Danns, Paul Konchesky and John Pantsil as the Foxesâ summer signings. That transfer activity has seen Leciester been made 4-1 joint favourites â along with West Ham â to win the Championship title. It is nice to start a season with the opposition thinking this about us instead of relegation fodder.
I think its just the general opinion that most neutral/fair supporters would think is going to happen this season, but theres still 46 games, and anything can happen.
I think it is crucial to get off to a good start. QPR got an early head start and maintained it all season. The quicker other teams expect us to get the number 1 spot the better.
We need to walk the walk as quick as possible. With all the spending we are bound to be favourites, I am confident that Sven will gell the players quickly as he did with the loans last season and get them going from the off. I would like to see betting odds on us not being out of the top six after the first three games?
