that sounds as though we still have 10 million in bank loans, which could be restructured in the coming season by Ashley (ie we won't have to pay any interest on it).

It's beginning to feel like we're the footballing business version of a student who spends his entire student loan during freshers week, gets a credit card for the free popcorn maker that comes with it, and has had to go to his mum for help. now we want to be out drinking but we've got to work off the loan first.

Someone was on here the other day talking about 285 million of debt to Ashley, is there something I'm missing?

Not worth your breath. Apathy rules in Newcastle.

I attended a "Newcastle supporters trust" meeting last year. it was fronted by the biggest bunch of amatuers you've ever seen.

Much was made in the press about the no-up front sponsorship arrangement for Westwood and Clarke golf deal for wearing Dunlop clothing, in return for the £1 million cheque to the winner of a major wearing the kit.

Well as we all know, Clarke won. Wouldn't you think the fat lad ( Ashley ) would milk this for all it was worth?

Has anyone seen any photographs of the handing over of the cheque? Or was the story merely planted to see what PR it could bring?

Any action taken against Ashley would need to be coordinated on many fronts.

    1. Pickets at the entrances to all his shops asking potential customers to boycott the store.
    2. Some way of affecting the operation of his shop's website.
    3. Not only attendance at home matches but non purchase of season tickets.
    4. Complete boycott of all the club shops and no buying of programmes.
    5. A coordinated media presentation and operation.
    6. A mass petition to The FA , Premier League , EUFA and FIFA calling for the "Fit and Proper" assessment to be undertaken and the calling into disrepute charges to be levelled.
    7. The acceptance that the club will probably be relegated and lose most of their top players and that a new start will have to be tolerated perhaps even from as low as League 1 and on a long term basis.

If people are willing to do 100% ALL of these things then there would be a chance.

Personally i think there is more chance of Rupert Murdoch becoming a Lord!

That's exactly what would happen and as i said if people are willing to accept that (relegation , sale of players etc) just to get rid of him then so be it.

We could kill two birds with one stone.... Attend games but 5 mins before kick off, all turn our backs on the pitch. That would be a powerful statement and allow us to still give the team the support they need.

That was me I think. Was based upon the 2009 figures where is recorded £111m loan to MA with NUFC plus £39m overdraft which he guarantees, plus £132m owed to MA by NUFC's holding company St James Holdings. So total of £243m to MA and £39m to bank.

Based on Alfie's figures though it looks like MA has increased his loan with the club to £140m by paying off some of the overdraft. There was no mention in those figures about the Holding Company but I would assume until proven otherwise that MA is still owed £132m there as well. So I would estimate MA's total debt to be £272m.

Sorry guys who want him out but he is going to want that back (or most of it) if you are hoping he will sell anytime soon.

I'll also repeat yet again that NUFC will have to build a market "fair value" interest charge on to that £140m loan for the benefit of the fairplay break even calculation so it is the club's interest to get that loan repaid. It is why despite everybodys complaints to the contrary we are not in a position to be spending the full £35m on players.

The fact is he bought a premier league team which was bursting with internationals and european regulars for 247 million including the 100 mill debt. How much was Liverpool valued at? about 500 million! I know they are a bigger club but not twice the size. He got us on the cheap because of the debt in my opinion, he then ****ed it up even more and blamed previous owners. I guess he is trying to save face now.
