That is so disrespectful to Pellegrini to announce that now.

You reckon? I think it's been done to stop him getting the questions every ****ing press conference, he obviously knew so why not stop him having to deal with all the ****?

Despite my previous comments about him acting with nothing but dignity when questioned about it, you could see it starting to grate on him, espescially as he's known (for a while?) anyway so why not have it in the open? The squad etc. respect him anyway. Really don't see the harm tbh.

Can't wait... Neymar to City could happen. Pep needs a whole new back four first though.

Could definitely see Neymar wanting to move on soon to be main man somewhere as he'll never be that at Barca. Also agree about the defence...

Think Pellegrini knew anyway....he's been a stop gap, an excellent one, but a stop gap none the less.

Be interesting to see how he does though, I'm not convinced. Obviously won a lot at Barca but look at the players he had come through, then went to Bayern after they won the treble. Bar a CL win this year not sure he's been that great there. Reckon I could win the Bundesliga with that Bayern team ffs <laugh>

City aren't in that category of being miles ahead of the rest in the league, though obviously have the cash.

Pellegrini should be pleased; if history is any guide, he'll now win at least three trophies before Pep takes over.

It seems that Pelegrini is quite amenable to being replaced. I don't think he's being sacked, just leaving by mutual consent and a monumental wad of cash, no doubt. I should imagine the guy will never need to work again, and live in the lap of luxury, after he finishes at ManC.

Would we fancy him here if Ron decided to leave eventually? It appears he is happy to play Academy players if policy calls for it.

He took over a pretty average Barca side that finished 3rd in La Liga, he sold Ronaldinho & Deco and built his team around Messi, Xavi & Iniesta (hindsight is 20/20) and won the treble in his first season and went on to dominate Europe. Retrospectively it looks like an easy job, but at the time it was anything but. He deserves all the credit he gets for that Barca side IMO.

It will be interesting to see the growth of City's fan base. They are now getting 54,000 every home game .... they must be eating into places where United have attracted a lot of support in the North West and Yorkshire (look at Leeds United's attendances at the moment, around 23,000 which is 15,000 down on their PL days. The longer they continue in the Championship, the more fans will look at the prospect of supporting City only 40 miles distant. And if Guadiola can pull off a mega signing (Inaki Williams will be a top, top player) their fan base will continue to grow, We may even begin to see less United fans and more City fans among youngsters here in the South should their success be sustained for a considerable period.

And they have planning approval to expand the North Stand so their capacity will grow to 61,000. Work to start next year I believe.

Months? You're underestimating english tabloids. Theres years of idle speculation in there. Messi, Neymar, Muller, Lewandowski etc.

If you head to a window and listen really closely you can already hear the sound of journos thrashing away at their keyboards up and down the country.

Neighbouring clubs in that part of the world are seriously going to have to consider playing on Friday nights! How for example can the likes of Bolton, Bury Oldham, Rochdale attract fans when there's City at home one week, United the other?

Neymar is realistic so can't blame the press for that one. I can see Neymar in a City shirt in 6 months time.

How long will it be before someone's son or daughter on this site decides to ditch his or her United or Chelsea shirt for a City one? If Messi or Neymar did join City, I would expect to see quite a number during the summer.
