So Remy set to sign for Leicester today for 10M, and Emmanuel Emenike Signs for West Ham on loan. 2 class striker deals for both clubs. Talking of strikers. Young Fulham wonderkid Moussa Dembele, deal to Spurs falls through because they didn't agree personal terms. Strange one, like Rhodes.
Quote from Chris Lakey - senior sports writer for Archie - "But today’s activities may depend on others: Kyle Lafferty and Stephen Whittaker are candidates for the exit door, for the right price, while an out-of-the-blue offer for one of the top players might just spark a chain reaction." From the BBC Gossip page - Former Millwall and Leicester striker Steve Claridge says Middlesbrough's move for Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes "will go through", despite it falling through after personal terms could not be agreed.
Really hoped the "bid for a star player" rumor would have faded away and was just a dream I had last night. In terms of the madness, I didn't really mean us. I don't expect anyone to come in today for us. I'm hoping, but I always do on Deadline day, and never really happens. Usually just lose a player of the year.
"Villa fail with bid for Michu from the Spanish 4th tier" What's going on at that club!? Swansea tried to get rid of him for months, then he was without a club for months!!
I wouldn't include Neecastle in that list DH, they've spent more than the entire Bundesliga this window . I think their signings are good, but as ever the risk is trying to integrate too many players.
Watford have managed it with a whole new squad of foreign players. I'm sure Newcastle could manage it with mostly Premiership based signings.
Fair point, I'd forgotten about Shelvey and Saivet, which is two thirds of their signings so far! So far then: Villa: No signings Bournemouth: Iturbe, Afobe, Grabban, Adamonis Newcastle: Saivet, Shelvey, Townsend Sunderland: Kirchoff, Kone, Harper, Khazri Swansea: Paloschi WBA: Sandro, Pritchard
Alex Pritchard to West Brom. Not the best option in terms of continued football development? Why the hell would anybody want to link up with Pulis and his 'thug' tactics?
Yes, I know that, but it remains a risk. We have a similar risk having signed at least three players likely to start. And if you recall Watford took about six or so games at a guess to really get going and it was Ighalo, not a new signing, that went on a run. I doubt Newcastle can afford six games to get up to speed, so they need their players to fire straight away. Of course they might, and I think Newcastle have bought well. But they might not (here's hoping...)
Erm, how exactly does this arrangement work? Cardiff City look set to be given clearance to sign 22-year-old striker Kenneth Zohore from Danish side OB, despite a transfer ban. (Wales Online) {from the BBC 'gossip' page}
Not a direct dig at you but I see this posted regularly by clubs fans. Do you honestly think a club pick a player at 9pm and rush through signing them by midnight? There will still have been months of scouting etc regardless of it being deadline day.
The bid would still have to be made on deadline day. The quote I keep reading is that a bid for a star would spark transfer movement. Meaning we have to wait til the team bids for the player (say Ruddy) we have to agree a fee (I'm guessing we will play hardball to get silly deadline day money). Then we have to do the same with our target. (then they will play hardball). I'm guessing that if we sold Ruddy, we will just end up bringing in an old codger like we usually do. Like a Nash or someone 3rd choice at a club or on a free. Seeing as though Rudd doesn't look comfortable or ready yet. I just have a really bad feeling about it. Ruddy back to Everton has been mentioned, and that sounds a perfect fit. Howards been off form, and sounds like he's going back to America at the end of the season.
I can't think of any names I'd want coming in GK wise and I wouldn't want to risk someone from overseas coming in mid-season. This could be a disaster if true.
That's exactly what I'm saying. I can't imagine any other "star" moving on. Unless it was Redmond. Also, Howson has been so Impressive, I have thought a lot that there must be teams looking at him. Stoke Palace, Everton, Leicester type teams I could imagine. ...Or Derby.
Rumours on twitter about offers for Martin Olsson. No club mentioned. but if that meant Brady at LB for the rest of the season......
We are desperate at the back though, especially if Olsson leaves. I thought we needed another Left-back, even if we kept him.
