To be honest, every club in the world, bar one or two, is a stepping stone.

Was gonna be my point, all pro players are merc's they don't do it for love but for the money, it's the cloggers out on a Sunday working off the booze who do it for nowt these days.

I'd add that if your club is buying players who will be wanted by the very best clubs in a few years time then your club is getting it's transfer policy right. Much rather have that than players who will be loaned back to their previous cub after just a few months.

Newcastle reject Berahino bid??? If someone wants to pay us for Bera then I think we should bite their hand off. That's good business!

Reckon £25mil cash would be enough to change the Levy wannabe's mind....Pulis wants him gone Peace wants the best deal possible, christ throw in Marveaux, Riviere, Cisse, Gouffran, Obertan and Carr to 'sweeten the deal'!!!.

Will Berahino be guaranteed a start at Stoke? he'll start some but not as many as he's thinks.....my only concern would be we pay, we get him and he doesn't kick on straight away and some sections of the fan base turn on him like the Thauvin incident, it's a possibility.

On a separate note i think Doumbia will surprise more than a few!

Is it true today is both £21m offer day AND season ticket cancellation day? #justsaying

Ashley's not daft. Where else is he going to get £100m from and free advertising if we get relegated.

He's a horrible twat, but not daft. <ok>

Think he's a good player and will score goals if he's played often and up front.

Can't fault him for wanting to leave Pullis and his anti football.

Where do Stoke get nearly £25m from and remember Newcastle's bid is supposedly CASH which is way beyond what most clubs will offer.

Saido will get a hatful of goals in an attacking Premier League team and there would be worse places than Newcastle under McClarens guidance thats for sure.

As a Baggie- I'd expect him to go to Tottenham if anywhere because he seems set on London/top 4 challenger, which Newcastle might become but aren't yet. The relegation battle would also mean Jeremy Peace wont trade with you unless he is certain of staying up.

Some of the most boring football we have ever seen at WBA at the moment under Pulis- if Saido can score in this team he's gonna be a weapon for someone else one day.

The big issue with this lad is attitude. He can be anything he wants to be but I think the money has already got to his head. Dont know if anyone saw him in the cup this weekend but he was overweight, and for a kid in his early twenties in the Premier League, is a terrible sign. -Look out for the Pulis quote in the press after the game about keeping Saido but 'needing to get him fit'- needs some stern guidance around him.

Great sigining in Townsend by the way- a proper winger that Newcastle have lacked since Nobby and Robert left.

If he ends up at your club I'd love to see you add a couple more and push for Europe, but as I say look out for a Tottenham bid and at a longshot- Arsenal.

British kids are going like gold dust these days and Wenger can do worse than get himself a British striker who can get 20 goals.

Interesting deadline day ahead regardless- if you wanna give us Perez and £15m we'll take it ;)

    All the best lads.

True, rich because of their support from County Durham , the playing field was LEVEL then things changed, borders were changed teams were bought as a hobby, the victim was football, as you doubt are aware I have pointed out on numerous occasions when all things were equal Sunderland had a record to be proud of, Do you believe the second half of Newcastle's season will be down to McLarens genius or will it have something to do with money ?

I think he'd play at Stoke.. he'd replace Affelly in that front 4 and they'd drop Bojan slightly deeper. Looks pretty good on paper to be fair!

Reports I've been reading say Stoke tabled a bid of £20 million plus add ons, Berahino is reported in the Mail as seeking a meeting with Peace and Pulis tomorrow to talk things through, through Ashley we do have the advantage in being able to deal with any payment in full on the day and if he really wanted to could outbid Stoke and Spurs, Spurs appear to be sitting on the sidelines as they don't want to go so high in valuing Berahino and are possibly waiting to see where the bidding goes tomorrow morning onwards to the close of the window.
