Queens Park Rangers are eyeing a beat-the-deadline move for Oxford United midfielder Kemar Roofe, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Roofe is regarded as one of the best young talents in the lower leagues after catching the eye at Oxford.
Since arriving initially on loan last February Roofe has scored an impressive 24 goals in 49 appearances for Oxford.
The former West Bromwich Albion youngster has been in outstanding form for Oxford this season, including a match-winning performance in the FA Cup win over Swansea City earlier this month.
.Roofe's performances have not gone unnoticed among clubs higher up the football pyramid and QPR have been been keeping a close eye on his situation.
QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is keen to bolster his squad before the close of the transfer window after a slow start to his tenure at Loftus Road and has identified Roofe as one of his top targets.
Oxford are keen to keep hold of Roofe, but the League Two club are bracing themselves for interest in the 23-year-old before Monday's transfer deadline.

Respect where it's due, Oxford are having a good season down in league two.

Yes, maybe a tad pointless my post but fair play to them anyway:emoticon-0148-yes:

Pretty sure Phillips will be gone before the deadline so we need some firepower from somewhere, Roofe seems to be 'Flavour of the Month' at the moment, let's hope he's not another who finds the QPR 'Anti-Midas Touch'...

get him and that would conclude some decent bit of business. If we get a decent fee for Matty and offload Green, then that would be the icing on the cake<party>

The chairman was on Five Live yesterday and said he "wasn't for sale". The reporter then asked "what if someone came in with a £1M - £1.5M offer" and he said "then I would have to talk to the manager".
They do not need to sell so we wont be getting him on the cheap. When did we ever get anyone on the cheap though!

Perhaps we should call it "the Fernandes Touch"?

Roofe won't come...is the gossip in our neck of the woods...would like to be wrong though

Still some work to be done.
Phillips needs to move, as we have the young Burton lad incoming.

We do need to offload Green (and Traore, Diakite and JET).
I would also say Fer and Cheri, but JFH seems to have decided they are a "project", which he seems to want to work

You are having a laugh Beth, If we lose that many players we will be in a relegation fight. I don't even want to see Phillips leave.

If we lose Green, Triaore, Diakite and JET we will be in a relegation fight...I don't think so Ellers!

Phillips is a good player (sorry Col), but he is refusing to contemplate a new contract ansd so if WBA are really offering 6-8 million..we must take it.
As said .....Fer and Cheri are not leaving (imho) as I think JFH is on a mission with them both.

So I think I have quite a valid proposition there

if we get roofe then forget everything hes better than bowles and marsh put together it will end my war with les ferdinand although i did ask him to buy afobie from arsenal before he went to wolves but this kid will be a magical influence to have around loftus road we wont keep him as he is far too good for us but we could make a nice few million quid profit of them
so i dont actually believe that nincompoop ferdinand could buy this kind of tallent if he does then the war is over

Would love him to come,if he does it will be because of JFH's reputation. It was why we got Washington.

Of those listed by Beth, would any really be missed except maybe Chery who has the potential to come good? Green is shot, Diakite God only knows, Traore is just milking his contract and has no intention of playing and Fer just strolls about. That's probably well over £100k a week in wages right there with no obvious detriment to the squad.

He's not worth more than £1m, no matter how brilliant he is in League Two.

I think he is. £1.5m for me. Jamie Vardy was a million from the conference

I've always said that Phillips can be good at this level Beth. But even at this level he looks lazy and has a lot of poor/average games imo.
