Got to say that split second at Fulham when McGregor somehow stretched his fingertips to push the ball wide of goal followed by Dave's miraculous clearance is stuck in my mind. Anybody got a City "moment" to rival that.
Stuart Elliot header v Swansea. Finally believing now was our time. Deano. Wembley. Not much more left to say! Impossible to ever cap #destiny
John Hawley's left foot blast against Sunderland in a 3-1 win @ Boothferry Park in the early 70's stands out for me. Away from the usual moments mentioned that is.
23rd Nov 1974, City 2 - 0 Man Utd, 5 minutes from the final whistle - Man U fans singing ''it's time for you to run'' ............... they weren't kidding, memorable for the record time getting into town
I remember exactly the same experience v Sheff Utd 10 years later.. Got cornered in a garden down north street. Got away and ran to town in super quick time
My dad jumping around as mad as me when we went 2-0 up v stoke city Shame we got robbed and lost 2-3 Keith Edwards wonder goal were he seemed to take on the opposition on his own. ( forget who it was against ) The fa cup s/f come back against sheff utd Promotion day v cardiff So many
Deano has to be number one but seeing Geo goals in victories at Arsenal and Spurs within 8 days has to be close for me. They were the best trips!!!!
On Keith Edwards I remember one in the 80s. I was with my brother in the South Stand and he was saying Edwards hasn't done anything. I said there was still time. And then in the last minute he ran down the middle one on one with the goalkeeper and smashed it into the roof of the net. Anyone know which game that was?
Waggy's equaliser in the 2-2 cup draw at Chelsea. Chris Simpkin's goal in the replay. Houghton's volleyed third goal past Shilton in a 3-0 win against Leicester. Waggy forcing Banks to dive twice before he slotted past him in league and cup games. Keith Edward's volleyed winner against Southend which kept us up the day of the Hull v Rovers cup final. Barmby's goals away to Sheff Wednesday in the 4-2 win, Probably the best ever atmosphere for an away game. The beast's headed winner against Leeds. Loads more to go at besides the obvious Wembley and promotion goals.
As a few have mentioned, Barmby's volley vs Wednesday was something else. After years in the doldrums, away to a 'big' team and he pulled that off. Brilliant. Also Brown's goal against Liverpool in the league cup when we lost 5-1 at home, that was pretty special at the time
Mussie's save against Bury, (I think but it could have been Rochdale - hard to tell the difference!). It was 0-0. He had a shot covered but it took a deflection. He turned in mid air and tipped it over the bar - the best save I've ever seen live. I was right behind it in the South Stand. We went on to win, I think 1-0 and got promotion.
The city goals at arsenal I was sat with my mate an arsenal fan ( who also supports city and will be there in Saturday ) in the upper tier of the stand directly above the city fans Having to keep quiet ( ish ) when we scored the first I ran into the toilet after cousin scored and went ****ing mental for about 5 minutes ( or so it seemed ) Beating arsenal away not as minnows but as equals it's what I used to dream about as a kid
Myhill's incredible "unsighted" reaction save at Watford in the playoff semis to keep us in the lead. The replays of that save still leave me gasping. Best I've ever seen!!
If this was the game where we won 3-1 I was further down the road getting a good hammering from about 10 of the ****ers. So my memorable moment was Cup Semi final 5-3. always hated them for picking us off in small groups
