Ellis Short buys up distressed debt and flips property/property portfolios for profit. You'd think he was attempting to do the same with footballers, essentially if he'd bought M'Vila he could have replicated his business model in football. He didn't though, he bought Rodwell.
Some interesting points on here. For what it's worth I don't think Ellis does make any footballing decisions but am pretty sure he makes any important financial decisions. So if I were in his position, I wish, then I would have at the very least a view on what I wanted my investment to achieve. If he has and surely he must then I have not read or seen any evidence of what he would judge a successful investment expressed in any footballing terms. I live in hope as I have been for the last 55 years!
