Your opinions on players are so ridiculously skewed at times towards favouring the latest foreign import over British based players or players who've been over here a long while, that it leads to concluding that you're someone who likes the latest 'name' as opposed to merely judging on their contribution to the team.

Today you're trying to defend a genuinely awful performance by Moreno, whilst both ignoring (and trying to blame for the goal instead of Moreno) a player who's had nearly 2 years out through horrendous injury - and is the same age as Moreno - who came back into your side for his first start last night, and ran his arse off for 105 minutes. He was also Klopp's MOTM.

Bale came through as a winger. He only
Played LB as it was the only to get some games.

  5. Your just changing history to suit your argument now <laugh>

Bale played LB at Saints. He was bought and played as a LB at Spurs. Spurs tried to sell him to Forest and us because he was a failed LB. Spurs had injury problems so 'Arry played him at LM as a stop gap. bale grabbed it with both hands.

bale's main weapon at that time was his pace and determination. Two traits that Moreno has. Why not give him a go?

My apologies - was convinced he played as LW at academy level.

Moreno has talent and plenty of determination and I wouldn't throw him out, but we need to work out how to get the best from him- and we're certainly not doing that atm.
Obviously I don't know the guy and he might very intelligent off the pitch, but he's ****ing brainless on it. His decision making is poor, and his over-enthusiasm is suicide for a full back- his second go at Naismith at the weekend was incomprehensible.
I agree it might be worth playing him further forward, but if we brought say, Smith in behind him we have to leave someone else out.

I just think he's costing us atm, because others have seen what most of us on here can see and are singling him out.
Anyway, it's not our decision- he nearly gave Klopp apoplexy last night and I'm thinking he just might drop him anyway.

    fair.

    as always

I still don't think he's good enough to play further up as it would mean dropping a fit coutinho (i hope) when teixteria arrives.

I get the feeling you're right, if fit Clyne goes back in at RB and Flanno at LB, if no Clyne then Flanno keeps his spot and Smith in at LB.

This is the problem if we push him forward.
I think he'd be better on the bench and used later in the game if we want to cause a bit of havoc (in the opposition's half rather than our own) when one of the others tires. In the meantime maybe the coaches can work on his game intelligence and improve his overall performance.
I feel like I'm picking on the lad now <laugh> I like his enthusiasm and will to win, but he needs to add some wisdom and judgement to it.
And sort his hair out. <ok>

  11. It's a squad game and we have around twenty-five players, some are going to miss out

  12. Don't be stupid. If fit, Coutinho plays...

    Migs
    Clyne - Lovren - Sakho - Flanno
    Lucas - Can
    Lallana - Coutinho - Moreno
    Firmino

Yeah, so the issue becomes who? And the question is does Moreno being pushed forward improve the team if someone else has to go?
Imo, if he can't learn to defend better then he'll lose his starting place.

  16. Options is a good thing, selection headaches are great problem to have <ok>

I posted a line-up above btw. The I didn't really spend time doing it, I was merely showing how Moreno could move forward with Coutinho staying in the side.

I've wanted Smith to play ahead of Moreno for a few weeks now. He isn't any worse at defending and he is probably better going forward.

Last night was evident that Lucas, Can, Henderson, Milner and Lallana are all far too similar, trying to do the same things. Firmino looked lost without any creativity around him.

Can played better when sitting in front of the defence.
    Hendo isn't match fit yet..
Ideally I'd like to see a Midfield of Can - Hendo with Firmino, Coutinho, A N Other ahead and just behind Sturridge.. We have a front four like that then we don't need the likes of Can and Hendo to bomb forward.. should be better at shielding the defence! Width from the FBs..

Hang on. Are we really hyping Smith up on the basis of two games vs. Exeter?

The lad is talented, yes. But from what I've seen he's not better than Moreno at defending, and while he is more direct in his attacking, he essentially abandoned his defensive duties to play as a left midfielder. Moreno, yes, I may have been generous in giving him a 7.5 or a 7 but come on lads. He's got experience abroad, he's got a pair of seasons at Liverpool under his belt. Giving up on him now would be a massive setback.

I think back to InsĂșa. I remember he was promising, the LB of the future. And after Benitez overused him and he burnt out, we gave up on him. We never gave him a chance again. I'm sure we ended up hyping McLaughlin or Wisdom or Robinson over him at the time. And yet it never materialised for one reason or another. Now granted Insua never really recovered from that, but I think some trust could have gone a long way. He played for Atletico, Sporting, now Stuttgart. Can you tell me where Robinson's career took him?

Smith is 22 in 2 months. He's not a child. I support giving him a chance but I don't think its worth getting rid of Moreno for. I think the majority of our effort and playing time is worth investing into Moreno. If we can afford to do both, excellent. If we can't? Then I know who I'd rather keep.

Moreno has moments of madness. He has many flaws. But he's in a better position to learn from them with his experience. Look at him when he gets the ball. He always looks to play it forward or run forward if possible. Our defensive woes need to be addressed, but I think we need to stop the revolving door of young players and give them a chance. Will it cost us goals? Probably. But I am of the opinion that it will be worth it. That said, you lot seem to dislike Moreno and that's fair. You've seen him yourselves, we've all got an opinion.

    this is also fair.

it is bigging up smith. he has been caught way up pitch v exeter. I think first half at anfield he did and then second have he was not suggesting instruction.

Inusa was binned by rafa. his choice.. the kids were only hyped by fans, insua decided he had to play and was not singing a deal so was loaned out.

Players need to be very very careful in their little power games and contracts.

Your point on moreno being positive is well made.
