Just saying..... please log in to view this image It's in Millions and looks canny. Penny dropped methinks...
Yeah he has realized you can't make money on player sales and expect to stay in the league/be competitive. Better idea is to spend more on players and try and earn the money through prize pool for finishing places and god forbid qualifying for Europe.
With Townsend coming in for £12m I think we've probably spent just about everything we had in the bank from last summer and what net cash we have brought in this season. I don't think Ashley will have injected any additional cash in to the club at this point in time despite all the spending. It's hard to know if the penny has dropped or he's just had to sanction it because of the threat of relegation.
I think the penny dropped last season before the West Ham game. Say what you will about some of his decisions, but he said we would start to spend to 'punch above our weight.' We are doing that and the calibre of player in theory is capable of pushing us up the table. Keep it going in the summer and next season may be domething to look forward to if we survive.
Is this where the 'Born Again Mike Ashley Fans' sign up..... If he hadn't been so bloody tight in the first place, we wouldn't be in the s**** we are now. When you look at the list of players, there's plenty garbage amongst them, expensive garbage, with more losses than gains.
Its all been building towards this one moment where we blow 100m to be relegated. Ee aye ee aye ee aye oh, down the football league we go, when we get to League 2 this is what we sing...we are geordies super geordies, McClaren is our king
Makes you realise how valuable Pardew was. MacLaren + £75 million < Pardew (based solely on results: MacLaren may be far superior to Pardew on moral or other grounds)
Yet are still sat comfortably in mid table overachieving having spent under 20m sitting 10 points clear of ourselves. I'm sure they are devastated. I mean that bad run does include defeats to Chelsea, Spurs, Man C. They should be beating those guys really.
It will be interesting to see how Pardew deals with their current dip. Arresting a slide in performances and results has always been Pardews biggest problem as a manager. It's happened everywhere he's been and has been the stick that he's been beaten with by supporters of every club he's managed. I wonder if Palace fans will be more forgiving than the supporters of clubs he's managed in the past?
Well they wont have 52,000.00 fans calling for him to go, I doubt they have 52,000.00 fans nationwide!
Proud Pardew keep on burning I was thinking of doing an RIP Pardew thread to try to wrap up all the poison in one place. Maybe with the header "Gone but never forgotten"
