Firstly...my whinging around ht shows how little I know! The team obviously believe in themselves which is something we ain't seen since Redknapp was in charge in the 2011-12 season...up until February 2012! Was great to see our subs making an impact too. One amazing goal, one very good goal and one good goal...3 points and 5th place united losing...very good day for us!
Someone has got to stop Arsenal . Also next season the usual competitors will have strengthened and might be beyond us.
Chadli deserves credit today. Nicely lofted cross to set up Kane, good energy and a very tidy goal. Having him coming into form now could be perfect timing. Always gets goals
I could take a title win and all kinds of on-pitch humiliation next season bar PL relegation quite easily.
Don't get me wrong, would love to win the league. If we did this season however, I'd expect the club to hold back on investing in players needed to keep us there. I'd see us falling away the following season relying too heavily on the same core players and be a one hit wonder. Get top four and the club will see us progressing and may back Poch and get the 2/3 players needed to take us to the next level and stay there
If we won the league, (It feels bloody weird typing that), Levy would definitely back Pochettino. He's not going to switch up the plan and go for the most expensive players. It would just mean that we'd have the better choice of the options.
"If we did this season however, I'd expect the club to hold back on investing in players needed to keep us there." Nope. Standard Goon CL making up the numbers (40m Euros earnings) . Levy dealt with the wage upsurge in 2010-11 AND still had money for THFC to do land purchase in prep for new WHL solely on that money. The sponsor revenue would go up (someone would want to jump on the bandwagon) etc. Player war chest immediately.
My ****ing God that was a great goal. Gets better each of the 83 times (so far) I’ve watched it. And the thing is, it wasn’t just an amazing goal. It was a stupendous goal in the 84th minute of a crucial drawn game. Got to say I was thinking Alli was shooting too much! The thing that’s helping is that the players are pushing each other for starting spots. The players seem to be so intent on outdoing each other they’re forgetting to be nervous and even tired. I think we’re going to see more of this group, the ones likeliest to score.
Just gets better and better the more you watch it. Mrs SOTM is going to be packing her bags by tomorrow if I don't stop watching this clip!! We really do appear to be assembling something special at the Lane right now. COYS!!
Just for completeness ... 1. How was the general play from Nacer and Son ?? Threatening ?? Back to the best we've seen from them ?? 2. Pochettino getting to grips with squad usage and going for the jugular ?? Lamela and Walker not starting. Nacer on for Dier to increase the attacking pressure. 3. Nearly 1 in 2 attempted shots on target
Evening all. Been a member on here for a while but very rarely post. It had to happen didn't it?! A team that hasn't scored for hours coming up against the best defence in the league scoring first, all be it an own goal! Anyway it all seemed a bit too spursy for me in the 1st half, loads of possesion but no end product so I gave in to the Mrs and went shopping instead of watching the 2nd half. I can't remember who used to do it but sometimes someone would post a link for the full match replay, possibly Inda? Anyone got a link? I gotta see that goal in real time even if I have watched 50 times already
