Spot on ! Could we, or anyone else actually make more of a balls up of it ? It really is gut churningly amateurish, and thoroughly embarrassing,
We all have to agree the way the club is operating and has been run overs the last 20 years has been very very poor. You can see why many in the football world shy away from good old Bristol City FC. We have a man at the helm that has made a absolute fortune in the financial world, yet for all the money that has been poured into the club has not seen anything like a return. We then get rid of the most successful manager since AD, with the club on it knees struggling, then we do not have his successor lined up. We have more players arriving under a interim manager, than when we had SC. We have a guy in Mark Ashton that is going to have a big say in players arriving,No quality manager, big named manager will want to work under those conditions. A puppet seems to me what we can expect. Not looking good fellow reds from the outside looking in. I still think under the right ownership and success, this football club would take off,the potential is massive. Crazy situation only BCFC could do this.
I am obviously out of the loop on this one, I think we have got the right owner, he is ambitious and craves success, you've only got to look at the Ashton Gate project to see we are a club in the middle of transition, we have made the jump to Championship and the previous manager could not make the transition the club expected. I have never known an owner have the patience of our man, how do you pundits know there is not a man on the way to suit all of our ambitions, we were all complaining about our previous non existent management activity, now we have a man of action in position with previous, successful, proven decisions working in Mark Ashton, he has been with us for a week and what are all you experts doing, criticising, unbelievable, since he has been with us there has been more activity and visible appointments made and we are all carping, John Pemberton is not the man responsible, he is just a yes man like Millen, lets give the new leadership appointed by Steve Lansdown a chance to see January out, a new head coach working in tandem with a COO is a great new idea for us, why keep knocking it when it's not yet in place. Our problems with rejection are down to our previous management teams, this is a new start with new brooms and a fresh approach, let's look forward to the future, stop beating ourselves and our club, realise we have got a diamond in Steve Lansdown and look forward to the future with a new stadium, new management appointments, new players, WOW there is not many teams in our league with the resources and future that we got to look forward to. Up the City..
Let's hope the new COO has an impact on the club Some people knock SL - but not me - where on earth would we be without him? The problem at our club lies with the people who run it on a day to day basis - I won't list all the things they have got wrong (from recruitment of players to ticketing and everything in between) Both SL and us deserve better
Do I think Lansdown has got everything right? No Do I think Lansdown loves this club and only wants to see the best for it? Yes I can tell you all one thing, id much rather have Lansdown, faults n all, than some stupid **** from abroad who knows nothing. At the end of the day we have a fan running our club and we are luckier than most! We could be like that rag ass lot down the road. There is no difference really, we were just the lucky ones who Jon decided to come and watch and get him and his dad hooked.
Got to be honest I'm 100% agreement with Shiny and Wiz on this one. People whine on and on about no communication, but speak to a Chelsea fan and they probably never hear Abramovich speak or Man U fans hear the Glaziers and yet those clubs have their own tv channels. So the club get Mark Ashton who's been communicating but some are still not happy. But maybe that's because he is saying things you didn't want to hear. So maybe we should of sent Lansdown a script to get a club spokesman to read out so everyone can be happy. Some on here keep saying would we be in a better position without SL, but are they comparing a owner on a like for like basis, is there anyone else with the same wealth who is interested in running our club? Or on the basis that the other owner runs the club within its means? Just that I don't want to alarm you but following our most successive year in years with a small squad we still didn't turn over a profit from what I'm hearing.
But who employed these people in the first place, the board,so ultimatley they are responcible for their actions, and day to day running of the club.
As I have said before be careful what you wish for. SL has adopted the right model, the odds are that success will follow. In the meantime somebody has to lose, somebody has to win, its a game of skill. SL is Bristol through and through as was Dolman. BCFC at the moment is a project. We achieved the first milestone, promotion; the second is establishment in the Championship. I remain confident that there is only one place to play for and we will achieve it. Then all the present malaise will go away
he is ambitious and craves success Maybe he is Wiz. But the facts are that he either doesn't take advice, or doesn't get the right people in to deliver, stabilise, and take the club forward on an upward trend. It's been all peaks and troughs under Lansdown, and aside from last season, and 2007/8, it's been mainly troughs if we're being honest for the power, money and influence he supposedly has. I think we're about as far away from being a Premiership club as at any time in the last 20 odd years.
I think we are basing other clubs successes on rich chairman prior to FFP coming into force. I think if we was in the championship play off position 2 years prior to when we was you would of seen more money during January window, to buy us other the line. Unfortunately we was in that position knowing FFP was on the horizon hence why clubs even with parachute payments are being punished. Just need to look at Cardiff who paid money and relegation later they are now being punished for it. If that was not on the horizon for them I'm sure Tan would be out paying over the top to get them back into the prem.
By the way Alan Irvines odds are dropping. Wasn't it when he came in for the McInnes team that we survived that season? And I can confirm that it was me that RR emailed and stated what's he already confessed to earlier
Alan Irving ? Really ? If tthat's the cream of the applicants then God or Allah or whoever help us. Wonder if iinterviews will actually be held this time around...or will some one just get the job like SC did ?
For me it is all getting a bit OTT now. If the names of Pearson, or moyes, were interested and applied or we approached them then it don't take Einstein long on who to appoint if either wants it. Who ever is going to have the final say, then their brain must be going into orbit with all these exceptional managers applying. Maybe Jose,Pepe and like have applied. We probably end up with Mark Cooper.
Steve Lansdown will never, repeat never, allow anyone to take more control over the operations of Bristol City than himself and that's why he builds a ring fence around his apparent meddling within the footballing side of his Sport empire. He has just added another level with the hiring of Ashton and this provides protection for SL from facing the media and his most vocal critics. If you look back a few years can you honestly tell me that things have changed on the pitch since the advent of Bristol Sport and all it's divisions. Steve Lansdown's money has indeed gone a long way in redeveloping Ashton Gate in to an acceptable home for our club, but somewhere along the way someone forgot to book the team that is capable of showcasing the new facilities. Focusing on the prize is a wonderful thing, but unless you know how you are going to get it is a totally different kettle of fish, and yet I think somewhere along the way we lost the map and the location of the treasure. Here we are yet again talking the same concerns as we did back in year dot but nothing is happening or forthcoming from our fearless motionless leader, and for some reason beyond my comprehension we are supposed to be happy munching on tit bits of garbage.
I wonder what he would be doing if it was hargraves lansdown we were talklng about. Money spent ,money lost, value for money on the spend really poor.
I just feel so sad and helpless that someone with the wealth that most of us cannot imagine, has so far failed miserably to have any success on the pitch that last more than twelve months. This latest defeat against a Leeds team that must be one of the poorest in their history is soul destroying. Unless a minor miracle with new manager and goalscoring players happens in the next week, we are well and truly on our way down to oblivion.
Irvine has apparently officially been on gardening leave since being "sacked" by West Brom and unable to take up new employment until Jan 2016
Neil Warnock told @SportsBreakfast he isn't going to @bcfctweets this week as"I'm going on cookery course wife bought me for Xmas present"
