I think sending them out to lower league clubs could be quite a good experience, especially so if they've got a good head on their shoulders.

At the very least it should make them realise the opportunity they've got at our place, with all the facilities we've got, etc, etc.

Perhaps not necessarily a "higher standard" in pure football terms, but 100% a completely different experience playing against full grown men compared to a bunch of kids.

Look at the likes of Mandron, banged them in for fun in the U21 league but couldn't buy a goal at league 2 Fleetwood.

There is only so much they can learn playing in the U21s imo, I couldn't give a **** if we finish last in that league, if the young guns are getting experience in the "real" leagues instead. It's meaningless imo.

was listening to the Into the light podcast today , and Proctor was on about the difference between the lower leagues and u-21. Well worth a listen

Gist was playing under 21 was better then nowt , but playing competitive football that mattered was a totally different and much more valuable experience as far as devolpment went.

Great logical post. Could have been loads of L2 teams wanting him for the season, Maybe the club think he can handle a higher standard so sent out a month in league 1 confident he can prove himself and extend the league. Kids aren't going to develop unless it's a real challenge for them. Looking good against a low standard won't help his game imo.

It's the physical aspect I think is the point of it. He's been playing with kids with plenty of growing to do. Now he's playing with grown men. He must be getting close ability wise to be at this stage. It's good news imo
