Just curious to know, how many mates would you say are your best mates? Ones you would run through a brick wall for.
I'd say I have 3 who I would class as proper best mates, known them all my life, I moved away from Durham nearly 20 years ago but whenever I meet up with them again it's always like I've never been away and the banter starts immediately. Thankfully they are all Sunderland fans too.
    Love them to bits.

Three. One in New Zealand, he married a lass from there and moved over Disco stylie. A cockney lad working temporary contracts on dodgy schemes in Mali, He's back and forth like a yo yo and the Lives in York. Love em to bits, bunch of twats they are especially that cockney mincing **** <laugh> I've no idea who I'll ask to be my best man.<confused> They're not fussed about footy.

My wife is my best mate nowadays, I'd do anything to protect her, without question.

I have a couple of best 'lad' mates, both live overseas now for work purposes. I'd drop everything in a second for either of them, even though I can't take them seriously.

Apart from my children there is one person in my life right now that I'd literally kill or die for.
But I'm not telling you ****ers who it is.

    I'm blushing now. :)

I think it's fairly obvious it's Jerry, if it's not her I'd be worried because the rest of the people we know on this forum are blokes and you've made that sound like a fem.

I know a lad like that - Janies oldest brother I would trust with my life.
He's a mag through & through but he's ****ing gold.
In my own little way I love the big bastard, shame we don't keep in touch very much.

Only got the one best mate, I was best man at his wedding and known him now for 37 years.
Not seen him now for about 2 years now but like someone else said, when we meet up its like we have never been apart.
loads of buddies that I go away golfing with etc. but you know when you have a mate as they will do stuff for you without question and vice a versa.

Just (apart from my wife) the only 1 friend from school 40 odd years ago - nowadays we very rarely speak or see each other, but I know he's just a phone call away - I know a lot of people that I'd consider as mates and acquaintances and they're mainly fellow muso's and artist -albeit a few of them I'd instinctively keep them at arms length at the end of the day...

working aboard, we feel like a band of 4 that lookout for each , against the locals
eg. The boss had a stroke , he has a wife in Thailand but also has a live-in girlfriend in Manila , the Thai wife jumped onto a plane to see him , so we had to round to his place and remove any signs of a girlfriend, and also make sure he got the best treatment etc in hospital.
