Everton pay similar wages to Saints; lower end of the PL scale.

 

Their wage bill ranked 10th in '13/'14 (we were 15th); haven't seen all of the numbers released, but it looks likely that they jumped enough that they'll be either directly below the top six, or below those teams plus Newcastle. Lukaku comprises a large portion of that.

 

I wonder where W Ham fit in? I suspect they're throwing a bit of money about especially since the govt kindly bankrolled their new stadium.

Those are total wage bills though, including everyone from the directors through the players and the tea lady. I cannot find a breakdown with just the playing staff, unfortunately, and our total staff numbers have increased dramatically (from 230 total employees in 2012-13 to 302 in 2014-15)...no idea how much that affects the comparison, if at all.

 

I suspect they threw a bit of money around in order to get the government to bankroll the new stadium. And I suspect that that money won't appear on any salary calculations either.

 

Actually that's still interesting news for three reasons:

1. It means he might not go to a Premier League opponent

2. We'll be playing against him next season if we draw Spartak

3. We are still yet to satisfy some fans desire to "splash he cash"... I mean 1 Charlie Austin is clearly an austerity signing

A lot of West Ham fans have been saying to their fellow fans moaning about Charlie Austin to us something along the lines of

'Stop getting wound up about Charlie Austin, Next season we will be parading much higher profile players than him.'

These West Ham fans think as soon as they get to the Olympic Stadium it is like a clean sheet and can start spending. Considering how they will be selling loads of the OS seats at reduced prices (under the spin of thinking about our fans) Where is this extra revenue coming in that where they are at max on FFP already that they will suddenly be able to break the bank in Top4 style?

The Balotelli one does sound plausible to me. They are more interested in the name of a player than what he brings to the team. I could see West Ham having a really bad season once they get to the OS. They will get carried away, think they are already now a top6 team before the season starts and with loads of Diva players freshly signed could well be a worrying last few games for them.

 

Never want to see Balotelli play for Saints. We've tried one mad player....that's enough.

Seen people complaining about this on the Echo site....they obviously think that Austin would be a better player if he cost £12 mill. I wonder if it's too late to offer QPR more.

Some fans are never happy.
Having shifted Caulker, all we need to do is off load Gaston and hold onto everyone else and I would say that this transfer window has been a great success

Sun reporting that we have set a 12 mill price tag on Long. Ridiculous...why would we set a limit (unless a stupid one) on a player we want to keep. Keep saying no, Saints (not that anyone listens anyway).
