I cannot believe we have given that clown a 5 year deal.

    I mean. Gobsmacked.

We need to tie these backup keepers down. Its hard to find a GK that will be willing to sit on the bench as of next season.

I doubt Mings has accepted a bench role at his age.

    <doh>

It was a tongue in cheek comment about my wishful thinking that we'd still find a better goalkeeper in the summer

Proving he's got a good sense of humour?
Weird decision...he's a great shop stopper but crap at most other aspects of being a keeper

rather his sense of humour wouldn't have to deter on our league finish which it now certainly will do......in a bad way

This is actually a bit of a myth. As of December he is 18th out of 31 keepers to make 20+ PL appearences in saving shots at his goal.

He is 14th in successful high claims of the ball.

He is first in errors leading to conceding a goal.

His only claim to fame is matching the number of clean sheets with De Gea.

Thats just bang average for a team that want to be top 4 at the least.

Don't get me wrong. The outfield players lose their man or are out of position far too often but if the one man that can run towards the late runner of a cross or set piece refuses to do so there is always a gap in our overall defending. If he always punches when he does come he is risking us losing the second ball and pressure returning back on to our box.

And his kicking and distrubtion overall has shown absolutely no improvement in the time he has been here. He just invites pressure with everything he does.

I accepted he was young so gave him some time but there has been no improvement and I think he is a big part of why we are nervous and fragile at the back.

He is just lucky the back up is worse.

The thing is I don't trust him whatsoever.

    I'd just sell asap.

Never knew any of that...makes the sense of humour explanation the only plausible reason...or he's got pictures of someone in a pair of waders with the arse cut out, a funnel, plastic tubing, a bucket of frogs and several sheep in stockings and peephole bras....allegedly.

He is so unreliable that there is always one or two mistakes in him. He cannot be trusted by his defenders and he probably doesn't trust them. As long as our defence is wobbly, we won't get anywhere. We are vulnerable to any team which focusses on set pieces, high long balls, fast counter attacking. That is we are vulnerable to all except the top teams and Swansea <whistle>

Contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on; if they were, we'd still have Suarez.

Can see him being binned sooner rather than later.

Contract was in the pipeline before Klopp came in so I doubt this was his decision.

Problem is we have people like Gordon and Ayre involved.

Yeah, it would probably would have been difficult for Klopp to say to the others "You know what, maybe we should wait with the contract a bit longer while I assess him properly."

Klopp surely will have had a say in it as well.

problem is that the ones we would like to keep refuse to sign the contracts and the ones we want to go sign their contracts very promptly...

Aye but if your manager knows the contract is coming up you'd like to think either a( the guy respobsible meets with him and says.."well should we go for it now?"

Or b) The manager is so horrified at the idea of having him as his no 1 for the next 5 years he goes "**** me lads...don't be daft!" Lol..

So either he agrees, is being ignored or hasn't the guts to scream no...

He's the expert but christ he'll have to pull off a miracle to give that lion a spine.....

    I agree.

I do think we'll see a DOF come in the summer.
