Just had a quick scroll through this thread - can't believe some of the negative reactions! Admittedly among a number of much more positive response. Having watched Austin closely for the last 2.5 years, for every home game and some away, I am absolutely certain that he will very soon have those with negative reactions eating their words. He doesn't quite 'have it all', but he has an excellent finish with both feet, is brilliant in the air, and most importantly, has an exemplary attitude and works his socks off. I like Southampton a lot. A club that nurtures talent and plays the 'right way'. I think Southampton and Charlie are a great fit and he will fast become a legend for you. I wish him nothing but the best at St Mary's and will enjoy watching him score a lot of PL goals. Hope he gets a hat-rick against Chelsea
Thanks for your invite. Absolutely convinced Saint Charlie will fit in brilliantly and am looking forward to seeing him play when he is up to fitness. Good luck with your promotion push
I haven't seen him as much as you but that has been the impression I've got from him from the times I've seen him.
Hey Raving! How come Dark Lord is the only one invited.... Where's the party anyway? Is it fancy dress? Ps. Thanks for your insight
If a club like ours gets the chance to sign Auystin for 4m-- even if he is on 100k a week which I kinda doubt-- you have to pull the trigger. The acceptable gamut of responses range from "Solid deal on paper, we'll see' to 'Holy ****! We just pulled off us the deal of the transfer season!' You can't actually have a negative response or at least II have difficulty seeing it. It is only a matter of how positive.
If we play 3-5-2 as we did this weekend and Charlie is on the bench to start will we have DT and GP on the bench as well or do you think one will be in the stands?
That would mean that Long is starting. And the only way I see Long starting is if both Pelle and Austin are hurt. In which case yeah, I think one might be in the stans since we will not want to risk injury. I guess it would depend more on their health status and how Austin is fitting in than tactics.
Thanks for your kind words. The thing I noticed every time I've watched him was the bit I've highlighted. I rate that above a great number of virtues and (to me) it's a sign of a gifted footballer. I regard his goal at St Marys last season as one of the most naturally gifted strikes of the ball I've ever seen. I think the underwhelmment (!) might come from all the negative press that WHU stirred up added to a degree of "if he's that good why has no-one bought him?". I'm salivating, I'm so keen to see him play week in, week out. We may come to see this as the deal of the decade. Vin
Agree on the West Ham front, but I feel that has more to do with internal politics there, as others have highlighted. His goal at St Marys really was nice - a bright spot in a dark season. But that's kind of sums him up, despite the shenanigans going on that season, and the poor performances from most other players, he still managed to pull goals of that quality out of the bag. He (and he alone) made me not regret having my season ticket that year. You're right to pull out the fact he can use both feet, but you'll very soon become aware of his aerial threat.
Forbesy sounds different to what I expected. Thought he'd have a west country accent....have no idea why.
