Sunderland have been linked with moves for two attacking players and talks for Lamine Kone have resumed. TWEET SHARE (60) PIN We have just completed the signing of former Hull striker Dame N'Doye but reports this afternoon suggest we may want to further strengthen our front line. According to 'Sky Sources', Sunderland have made an approach for Swansea's Andre Ayew but the same report goes on to say that the Swans want to keep hold of the player. Ayew only signed a four-year-deal with Swansea in the summer after he completed a free transfer from Marseille. The 26-year-old seven goals in 20 games for Swansea this season, including the second in our vital 4-2 win on Wednesday night, a game in which he also won a dubious penalty for the home side's equaliser. We have also been linked with a move for CSKA Moscow's on-loan Roma striker Seydou Doumbia according to Italian website tuttomercatoweb. The Ivory Coast international struggled after moving to Roma from CSKA Moscow and quickly rejoined the Russian club on-loan. The 28-year-old's loan spell is during to end in this window and, with the player not keen to return to Roma, his future is up in the air. The report claims we are battling with Swansea and CSKA for the player's signature. Due to the arrival of N'Doye, Danny Graham is expected to depart the Stadium of Light after tomorrow's game against Tottenham but it's hard to imagine another striker coming in unless Steven Fletcher also departs during this transfer window. Adam Johnson's pending court case may also force Sam Allardyce to look for a potential attacking midfield replacement, a position that Ayew is arguably more suited in. Finally, Lamine Kone's on/off transfer saga continues. It looked as if the transfer was set to be concluded only for the player to return to France and Lorient's vice president Alex Hayes complaining about Sunderland's conduct, then it was reported to be on again, only for rumours to suggest the player was no longer keen on the move but this afternoon Hayes confirmed that the transfer may still happen; Discussions have resumed with Sunderland [over the transfer of Kone] No doubt there will be further twists and turns in this transfer but there's no doubt that we need another centre half, despite the arrival of Jan Kirchhoff, so finger's crossed we can finally complete this transfer.
Charlie Austin is off to Southampton for £4million - personal terms and medical sorted. Anyone take Shane Long from Southampton?
I would take long... ****ing hate him as he's a little twat (of a player) but he scores goals. Him and Defoe as our striker and one to one off the bench would be great
IN a heart beat mate!! Rapid as fook , runs all day and was gutted we wernt in for him a few years back! Top player imo
Wouldn't have thought that'd be an area you're looking at with M'Vila and Zinedine Cattermole already on the books.
Seemingly intent on recruiting heavily in January to do everything in order to avoid relegation for the umpteenth time, Sunderland are throwing offers left, right and centre at the moment. Failing to sign Lamine Koné and Lamine Gassama from Lorient, bidding for Swansea’s summer signing André Ayew, and signing Dame N’Doye on loan from Trabzonspor, Sam Allardyce has a long list of targets. According to RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi, the Premier League club have also offered a two-year contract to Marseille’s defensive midfielder Alaixys Romao. The Togolese international, whose contract with the French club ends in June, is free to go if he finds the right offer, and Sunderland hope they can convince him to join for next season. Seemingly intent on staying in Europe, the 32-year-old has already refused an offer from Saudi Arabia, meaning a big move to the Premier League (if Sunderland stay up) could be appealing. Romao has featured 14 times in the league for the Ligue 1 club so far this season, but started only six of those games, scoring a goal and registering an assist in the process. Tom Coast.
Well seeing as Sam has already said a couple of times that we can't get anyone in until some go the other way, to lighten the wage bill and stay within the rules, all this speculation sounds so much like football agent and journalistic crap.
Yep. Money becoming available. I'm hoping for Ayew, but don't know why Swansea would, even if that Bony rumor (don't believe it for a second) is true.
No if anything the Commentator may have jumped the gun. Looking but can only see a reports of interest breaking an hour ago. Nowt about a transfer being in closing stages. As yet. Posted it on the pants thread
Hardly think they're relegation material mate. Watford only need to win 2 more games and couple of draws and they're safe. They've got goals in them with Igahlo & Deeney. Stranger things have happened like, and there's always one unexpected team who drops like a stone.
