Lets not get carried away with negativity because we lost. We outplayed them for most of the game with our '****' team and created far more chances whilst De Gea did his best to save United's arse on many occasions. Why did we lose? Despite Firmino's best efforts, he's not a striker. Lallana, Henderson, Can and Milner are not goalscorers either. None of those five have any composure whatsoever so it doesn't matter how much we create, we won't score. That, coupled with shoddy set piece defending again, means we're not going to get the results even if the overall performance we put out is better. Calling for heads to roll or a squad overhaul aren't justified. We simply need a leader at the back to organise and a clinical forward who, most importantly, fits our pressing and fast attack style that Klopp wants.
If we put on benteke on 60 mins LVG might have not put on Mata and gone defensive for example. It is ifs and buts.
We should have been ahead in the first half. If the starting XI weren't going to score then, they weren't going to score in the 2nd when our busier schedule was going to have an effect. So it needed changing before then.
The tactic of not playing an out and out striker doesn't work when the opponents don't give you space in behind. He should have realised that United wouldn't do that. Benteke gives you a focal point of the attack and others can play off him, a selection error today, no doubt imo

Mata was always gonna come on. Benteke is ideal for defenders as he stands still and it's all about strength duals. If Ibe had any sort of form he would've been a great sub to bring on. This match summed up Lallana's career here, just nothing to bring to the table. Milner ran and kept himself busy so I can't fault him and Can is too wasteful for a club aiming for top 4 (at some point, definetly not this season). It's crazy though. Did Rodgers look at his squad and believe these players would get him back into the top four? I know we have injuries but as a manager you have to expect that in some point. If Sturridge stays injuried we then have Benteke/Ings/Origi to carry us. 15 goals between them max If Coutinho gets injuried we have Firmino in his first season, Lallana and youngster Ibe. If Henderson gets injuried we have Milner/Lucas/Can which is average at best If any of our defenders wer gonna get injured then we were ****ed. We need to pray our full backs don't get injured. This squad is piss piss poor, our starting 11 now is just average. Yeah if we had a fully fit squad we could lose a challenge but it's foolish to go into any season thinking we will be injury free.

Not sure about that. When he plays we have no movement, which is our strong point, and there were times we did open up Utd with pace and movement. But without him we don't have people to finish. Studge is the answer, not Benteke, but I think @ £50m for both Lallana and Firmino should provide pace. movement AND finishing. Firmino, definiitely, seems to be worldy or nothing. Lallana is just nothing. At the moment, we're angry bees without a sting. But not sour grapes when I say, much as I'd prfer to be feeling what they're feeling now, how Van Gaal hasn't got players like Martial ND Mata (was made up that little ****er was left on the bench) is beyond me.
