    Alan Rickman has died.

I thought he was a great actor.

    Same age as Bowie, 69.

No age at all, seems mad that these talents who are, to be frank, well off can die so young and not just age well and enjoy their earnings.

I still can't believe Bowie died. It's one of those 'but I only saw him down the pub last week, he looked fine' moments.

Bowie dying was a shock. End of an era stuff. Too young to remember Elvis and Lennon going.

Two great artists in their fields.

    Both to cancer, really tragic.

    Rest In Peace fellas.

    I remember Lennon.

I'm not a Bowie obsessive by any means but he's the first artist of any sort I was introduced too. An older next door neighbour was a fan, I remember as a six or seven year old listening to Diamond Dogs and Station to Station. Even Laughing Gnome.

It just seems the man was there throughout my life, a constant. I'd listened to Hunky Dory the day before he died.

I know he made some ****e as well but when you span five decades you're going to.

Rickman was one of the best actors ever imo.

Die Hard was his first film role - not a lot of people can create such a legendary character in their first film. Apparently he also refused to conform to the usual villain stereotype on set, refusing to throw women around and treat them as victims. That basically set the tone for the new breed of 'gentleman villains' in more recent films.

    Great man <ok>

Lennon and McCartney both made some absolute ****e and both had/have some less than likeable personality traits. Doesn't change the fact that they changed the music world.

I was chatting to my 9 year old lad on the way back from footie training yesterday. Jean Genie was on the radio and I talked him through who David Bowie was. He was indifferent but I told him that one day he'd listen to and love some of Bowie's music. He said he wouldn't because his music came from a long time ago. I assured him that the time would come when he'd discover Bowie, The Beatles and more of the old music!

Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was a vaguely ridiculous film. Kevin Costner's American accent and Morgan Freeman (another great actor) playing a Moor was just wrong but Rickman was superb in it.

Aye, to win a BAFTA for such an average film, opposite two terrible actors (Costner and Slater) is nothing short of amazing.

I'd forgotten that Slater was in that film. He was terrible.

Sad times. Watched Die Hard in his honour. Seemed fitting.

Took me an age to click he had died. Everyone referring to his Harry Potter role, which I have no idea about.

RIP to Alan Rickman. People knew more about him in his Harry Potter role but he will always be a legend in Die Hard. Cancer is really a ****e.

My two both love my music. I must have done something right at least. Rickman is really sad. Another under-estimated film he was in was Galaxy Quest. His character ( a Spock piss-take) gets pissed off with fighting real aliens and says, like only he can "I'm going to the pub". ****ing genius.
