In today’s press conference Slavi says it as it is, “we can't defend”, “players are confused”, “need to make it simple”. No, he didn’t actually but those are quotes he has given the local paper in the last few days. What he did say however wasn’t a million miles away – “We are improving but it’s not good enough to win games”. His other comments imply that we don’t have scrappers and leaders on the field. Well he’s going to have make do with what he does have and the last two games should have told him those up for the fight and those not. So, without further ado, here is Saturday’s line-up: ……………………Lonergan……………………. ………Stearman...Hutchinson...Burn….. …Fredericks……....Matilla…………Garbutt.. ………LVC…………………….Hyndman……. ………………Cairney……………….. ……………………..McCormack…………..
……………………Lonergan……………………. …Fredericks……Stearman....Hutchinson.....…Garbutt.... ……............................Mattila…..…….... ………McCormack.......Hyndman......Cairney……………….. ............................Smith.......Burn......... More likely to be the C58 lineup My line up is Blitzkrieg Keep their defense occupied with aerial bombardment with midfield getting 2nd balls and shoot on site policy, I want to see their midfield facing their own goal when we attack. Try to make their defense foul either Burn or Smith to get freekicks for McC. Midfield will have to work their socks off, and we have to have Mattila in to plug defensive holes and break up attacks and feed Midfield.
Picking up rosc's post in the 'Loan' thread I clicked past Jimmy Husband and realised he's likely to be playing against us tomorrow. Hope to goodness Slavi doesn't persist in playing Jazz Richards or he'll get just a big a roasting as he had on Tuesday night.
We've got another rookie in the middle today, Staffordshire born Christopher Sarginson. please log in to view this image He's ref'd only one Championship game prior to today this season. Guess his card profile is average for the lower Leagues, having doled out 59 yellows and zero reds in his 18 games to date. Mind he did give 7 yellow in that sole Championship game (Hull's 2-0 victory down at Cardiff). Know it was the lumpy linesman who couldn't keep up with play and missed the blatant - 5 yards - offside for Wolves second the other night, but we haven't had our share of luck with officials recently. Hopefully Mr Sarginson, who also appears to specialise in 'fourth official' duties, can keep his associates in order today.
Dembele drops to the bench and Hyndman comes in. Otherwise as you were, albeit with a slightly different formation. .......................Lonergan............... ..Richards....Hutchinson...Burn...Garbutt... ....Kaca.....LVC....O'Hara...Hyndman.. ......................Cairney..... ....................McCormack... Subs: Lewis, Stearman, Ream, Fredericks, Mattilla, Parker and Dembele Again look very weak down our right side. Very defensive bench though.
My first inclination for the formation will start with was as in the last post .......................Lonergan............... ..Richards....Hutchinson...Burn...Garbutt... ....Kaca.....LVC....O'Hara...Hyndman.. ......................Cairney..... ....................McCormack... OR after reflection it could be .......................Lonergan............... ..Richards....Hutchinson...Burn...Garbutt... .......................O'Hara......... .............LVC.................Hyndman... ......Cairney............................Kaca ....................McCormack... OR even .......................Lonergan............... ..Richards....Hutchinson...Burn...Garbutt... .............O'Hara........Hyndman.. .....LVC.........Cairney............Kaca... ....................McCormack... The last is now my favourite choice. Guess all this really shows is that we can be fluid, depending how the match is playing out.
Not very convincing by the sounds of it and allowing ourselves to be bullied all over the pitch. Still, 55% of the possession away from home and, rather surprising, having 12 shots (to their 9); 4 on target (to their 3). Clearly a free week at Motspur Park won't come amiss.
Missed G.Jim today so just catching up. Some comments from the opposition... - Fulham played our own game against us and it worked - Fulham best side I’ve seen in a while but how McCormack’s got away with reffing that game I don't know. Fair result though. - Fair result today. Fulham were very organised and will do well under Jokanovic. Just a shame about Hoggs early mistake - Fulham had a fair few chances early on and should have had a penalty. Credit to Town for coming back though - Well #ffc fans, clearly in a false position first half best side I've seen versus us. Christiansen and Cairney are a joy to watch - Full credit to Fulham. Defended very well and clearly had a game plan to press us too - Think that's a decent point for Huddersfield, Fulham are probably in a false position with players they've got. Underachieved so far. COYW!
Good point today and ends that horrible run of defeats. I had a quick look also at the Huddersfield forum and seems they thought we had a good game, perhaps us edging it to a fair result. It's difficult to fudge only listening to GJ ( who wasn't able to see replays ) The Bristol win narrows the gap at the bottom but I'm confident we are moving in the right direction and will improve further in the weeks to come. We've got some difficult fixtures coming up so we're going to have to do our bit to encourage the team along.
Slavi's quotes post-match I think paint he true story - “Generally I believe we are starting to improve, but there is still a big space in front of us." “Our obligation is to play better football than we are playing right now." “We need to be more solid, we need to still be more prepared to compete. This is a competition for big boys." “Now is the moment to draw a line under the last two weeks, we played four games and lost three and drew only one." “It’s important to analyse my first two weeks and try and find a solution. This is what I tried to explain; with a little bit more time, a little bit more training, more confidence, more personality, with more character, and being more solid and ready for the fight.”
