WHAT !! Hamilton also overtakes better, drives in the wet better, and can certainly master an unbalanced car better, and attacks rather than stalks hopng for a mistake. As for Button - well apart from a couple of correct tyre calls - lucky or inspired - however you choose to see it what else ?

Why are they equal on points then if Hamilton is better? I wouldnt say Hamilton is miles better than Button.

    You missed out crashes more...

Anyway i would say that this season (so far) Jenson has done a better job and was unlucky in Silverstone or else he would be about 20 points ahead of lewis right now. Sadly that seems to be about to change because he's having a mare this weakend but still. Also Button is a Very good overtaker (not as good as Hamilton i admit but he is safer) and has driven agressively many times. You should also learn the difference between waiting for a mistake and attacking to the point where the opposition cracks under pressure (see Vettel at canada)

Well lets all add back some points then for DNF's. What would be the standings if Button had not shoved Hamilton into the Pitwall at Canada (may as well say it like that as it is in keeping with the rest of the thread!)

God this thread has turned pathetic. Grow up people.

Button is solid but Hamilton can be exceptional. However Hamilton's mind seems to be wandering this season and that combined with various strategy and pit stop errors has cost him points.

Your right sorry. It just bugs me how people always describe Hamilton as unlucky (so i thought it was worth showing that works both ways) or that every good button performance is because "hamiltons having an off-day" or whatever. I will grow up now.

Fantastic drive by Hamilton. The outside of Alonso was key to this win and was the highlight. I started this thread in dispair and end it totally elated. The second half of the season continues to be unpredictable. Formula1 at its best.

'can be exceptional' are the key words, added to this though should be, 'can be a complete muppet' too. The McLaren is a good car, but Button cannot drive an unbalanced car well, where as Hamilton can get in a car and within 5-10 mins can understand how it drives and drive it to it's strengths and uses it's weaknesses, whereas Button fears the weaknesses and compensates for them rather than driving through them

Oh dear, oh dear. Lewis was superlative today, credit where credit's due. His tax or celebrity status are irrelevant to today's race.

Why is it when Hamilton wins he still gets bashed by certain fans of other drivers but when Alonso or Vettel win they get massively praised by everyone. Just bloody chill!

Fantastic race and Hammilton drove a brilliant race and maximised the driver ca combo! Disappointed that Alonso didn't have the pace to challenge in the later stages and what happened to Webber - pace and strategy were not great! In relation to the Button/Hammilton groundhog debate ( oh it makes me laugh), if it were not for the 2 mechanical failures this year for button hewould be on roughly equal points! His pace at both Silverstone and Today (after he rectified his 1st stint woes) would have yielded him 20-25 points and ther wouldn't be a lot in it! Not bad for a driver who so openly dominated by his far superior team leader! I moch but it does sort of put things into perspective, it doesn't matter how fast, how well you overtake ( or not as the case may be), or how good you are at qualifying, it's the total points at the end of the year - that's all that you will see in the record books!

Hey guys: this place is better when the comments don't get personal.

Completely agree. Guys, why do the same arguments and uncontrolled comments have to happen every time after a race?

We're just various people, typing on our computers. It shouldn't be like this.

    It's all Whitmarsh's fault.

Turns out when Mclaren said in Valencia it was just the hot conditions and then in silverstone that it was just the diffuser ban. It wasn't the BS we all thought it was.
