As mentioned elsewhere, the 'emergency' Loan period ends today. First up is U21 left back Jordan Evans upload_2015-11-26_13-22-29.png who has gone on a month (well till 16 January 2016) loan to Oxford United.

Suspect there may be one or two more. For instance, Sean Kavanagh was all set to go out just before Kit left - although with Grant bringing him in for his surprise season debut last Saturday, goodness knows where the Club's thinking is at the moment.

    Where's Larnell? He's back -

"Larnell Cole played the full 90 minutes as Shrewsbury Town held high-flying Gillingham to a 2-2 draw at the Greenhouse Meadow on Saturday.
The home side went in front just after the half hour mark when Ian Black’s free-kick was put into his own net by Deji Oshilaja, but the Gills levelled shortly after when Cody McDonald converted and took the lead after an hour following Ryan Jackson’s long range effort. However, the Shrews claimed a point when James Collins struck on 70 minutes.

Adam Taggart was a late substitute as Dundee United fell to a home defeat to Hamilton Academical in the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership. The hosts had led for the majority of the game following Billy Mckay’s strike, but second half goals from Lucas Tagliapetra and Ziggy Gordon gave the away side all three points.

In the Barclays Premier League, Maarten Stekelenburg could not prevent Southampton from falling to a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City. Kevin De Bruyne tapped home early on before a deflected Fabian Delph strike made it two after 20 minutes. The Saints reacted well after the break and Shane Long headed home to reduce the deficit before the home side sealed the win with an Aleksandar Kolarov goal.

In France, Ange-Freddy Plumain appeared as a second-half sub as Red Star drew 0-0 with Niort in Ligue 2 to continue their five match unbeaten league run."

Jordan Evans started his home debut for Oxford with a bang. The local paper reported -

"Within four minutes the loanee from Fulham lit up the game with a first-time shot from about 35 yards which flew past a diving Chris Weale. It was an astonishing show of confidence for the 20-year-old to even think about letting fly, but the execution hinted at a star of the future."

Oxford went on to beat Yeovil 3-2. Here's a link to the match report and a nice picutre of Jordan -

And here's the goal (23 secs. into the footage). What a cracker!

In the other match where one of ours played, Jordan Evans was an unused sub as Oxford drew 0-0 away to struggling Yeovil.

In the Barclays Premier League, Maarten Stekelenburg was named in goal as 10-man Southampton were beaten 1-0 at Norwich City on Saturday. Saints went a man down when Victor Wanyama was shown a second yellow card in the 73rd minute. And three minutes later, Alex Tettey grabbed the winner as the visitors slipped to a sixth defeat in their last eight league outings. Ronald Koeman’s side now sit 13th in the table.

In Sky Bet League One, Larnell Cole played the full 90 minutes as Shrewsbury Town, who also had a man sent off, were thumped 7-1 at fellow strugglers Chesterfield. Jay O'Shea's volley put the hosts ahead, and his penalty and Lee Novak's 18-yard shot made it 3-0 by the break. Zak Whitbread’s effort gave Shrewsbury hope in the 66th minute, but Rai Simons struck from 18 yards and a Novak penalty, which saw Junior Brown sent off, made it 5-1. Another Simons shot made it six before Novak's long-range effort sealed his hat-trick and completed the scoring.

The Spireites' victory sees them climb to 18th place, a point above Shrewsbury who drop to 20th. It was Shrewsbury's heaviest defeat since suffering the same scoreline against Southend United back in April 1964 and manager Micky Mellon said: “Everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong. I've had lower moments in football - it's only one moment - but it is a pride batterer."

In Portugal’s Primeira Liga, Kostas Mitroglou was a 90th-minute substitute as Benfica won 1-0 at Vitoria de Guimaraes. Renato Sanches grabbed the only goal of the game in the 75th minute. Benfica sit third in the standings, two points behind second-placed FC Porto, who were beaten 2-0 at leaders Sporting CP.

Mitrog's been getting goals for Benfica but not regular starts. Wonder if we lose either of our main front men in the transfer window whether Slavi will call him back? Always assuming that's possible under the terms of his loan and of course whether Mitrog fancies exchanging sunny Lisbon for Huddersfield in January.

If we sell Dembele and McCormack he'll come back.

I could be wrong, but I think international loans can't include recall clauses. Kacaniklic was able to come back last January because the season in Scandanavian nations runs by calendar year rather than summer to summer. If that's right we couldn't take him back early, even if the player wants to end the loan early.

Jack Grimmer has joined Shrewsbury Town on loan until the end of the season.

It’s Jack's second loan spell with them and he was a big favourite among their fans during the seven appearances he made for them last season, before being recalled by us. Believe this is a good move for him to get back to full fitness after his injury. And a good move for Shrewsbury after their recent poor results.

Larnell Cole will also remain at the Greenhous Meadow Stadium for the remainder of the season. Larnell's temporary deal with the Sky Bet League One outfit began on 1st September 2015, and he’s since gone on to play 19 times for the club, and has scored two goals.

Their next match sees Shrewsbury travel to Cardiff City in the FA Cup this Sunday.

It looks like I might be wrong on this! Apparently Manchester United are recalling Januzaj from his loan with Dortmund, so maybe we could have the option to recall Mitroglou if we needed.

Freddy Plumain scored but his Red Star were beaten 2-1 at home by Lens in Ligue 2 at the weekend. He hit the net on the hour mark only for Lens to equalise straight away. Former Fulham winger Hameur Bouazza was then sent off for Red Star and they were down to nine men in the 89th minute when Rui Sampaio was shown a straight red. Worse followed as Lens grabbed the winner in the third minute of stoppage time when Lloyd Palun put through his own net.

Apart from our Shrewsbury heroes, Nando and Stekkers were also on Cup duty in home ties. Unfortunate for them, but Burnley knocked out 'Boro and Palace Southampton

Jordan Evans’ loan spell at Oxford United has been extended until the end of the season.

Jordan played the full game last night as Oxford beat Millwall 2-0 in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern area final first leg match. Quite a mouthful that. Not that Oxford will worry since it moves them closer to a trip to Wembley.

One of our better players, should be a rotational player or at least on the bench,
a far better choice than Cardiff's 3rd choice misfit.

Too late was the cry! Know this is no longer of Fulham interest but couldn't resist posting for rosc's benefit.

"Brentford defender James Tarkowski will face disciplinary action from the Championship club after asking not to play against Burnley on Friday.

The 23-year-old was initially selected in the starting XI but, following discussions with head coach Dean Smith, declared himself unavailable. Tarkowski, who has been linked with a move to the Clarets, has been the subject of transfer bids this month. But the Bees said those offers have not met their valuation.Brentford said any sanction for Tarkowski will remain confidential.

Tarkowski, omitted entirely from the squad to face the Clarets, has made 74 appearances for Brentford since joining from Oldham in January 2014."

PS Burnley have already gone 3 (three) up at Griffin Park and the Brentford fans are not happy with Tarkowski.

Not a good weekend for our lads on lads on loan, apart from the super-sub Mitrog that is:

"Jack Grimmer and Larnell Cole played the full 90 minutes as Shrewsbury Town slipped into the Sky Bet League One relegation zone after a 3-0 home defeat to Barnsley on Saturday. Sam Winnall put the visitors ahead in the 15th minute and grabbed his second soon after with a 20-yard shot.Andy Mangan missed the chance to get the Shrews back into the game when his penalty was kept out by Adam Davies, before Alfie Mawson scored to wrap up the win.

A division higher, Fernando Amorebeita played the full game as Middlesbrough were beaten 1-0 at Bristol City in the Championship. Wes Burns headed an injury-time winner for the managerless Robins as Boro’s run of nine consecutive clean sheets was ended. Their lead at the top was also cut to two points.

In the FA Trophy Second Round, Marek Rodákmade his Welling United debut but the Wings went down to a 2-1 loss to Havant & Waterlooville. Josh Hill put the hosts in front, but Welling leveled through Reece Harris. With 25 minutes left, the home side grabbed the winner when giant striker Shamir Mullins was left unmarked and his header squirmed under Rodák.

In Portugal’s Primeira Liga, Kostas Mitroglou stepped off the bench to score as Benfica won 2-1 away to Estoril. Trailing to Leo Bonatini’s 11th-minute strike, Mitroglou entered the fray for the start of the second half. He took just six minutes to make his mark when he levelled matters, before Pizzi hit the winner on 67. With leaders Sporting CP drawing at home to Tondela, the win for second-placed Benfica put them two points off the top."

Good move for the lad who, for one reason and more than a few managers, needs to rebuild his confidence.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a debut to remember for Sean with Mansfield losing 2-0 to Luton which, incidentally was Luton's first ever away league win against Mansfield. And sadly, it seems that Sean was at fault for both the goals with the Mansfield Town boss, Adam Murray, remarking,

"Technically we knew Sean was excellent. But we got punished today for Sean not being the most physical."

Guess we already knew this was not one of Sean's strengths (no pun intended) and League 2 is obviously a place where players and the boot get stuck in. Hopefully though the experience will toughen him up.
