Just watched 45 mins of the game on sky ... I thought we were very poor on Saturday and this performance was even worse .
I like to be positive , but now feeling a wee bit nervous . Could it be that other teams have worked out how to play against us ?
4 more wins is all we need , but on the strength of tonights performance , there is a chance we might struggle to get those wins .
Reinforcements certainly needed . Fingers crossed this is only a temporary blip .

What I saw of it it was a mess of our own making rather than anything Southampton did. Unimpressive, but given our performance against Newcastle we need a response against Swansea.

Ake is back on Monday. For those who have gone to matches regularly, does Jurado play better when Ake is playing than when Holebas is?

I was wondering that.... as we are pretty one dimensional in how we play.....

Without little service to the front men we looked poor....and defensively prone to mistakes...

Have seen all the games this season ..either at home or live / extended highlights on the box .
I don't like being negative , it's unproductive . ..Can someone please explain in depth , exactly what Jurado brings to the team ? I'm genuinely perplexed by his ongoing inclusion in the side .
Saturday and last night's games were played in very wet conditions , let's hope this is the reason for the poor performances in both games . Last night only Gomes deserved a higher than 5 out of 10 rating .
Next 2 games very important ...lose both and there is a real risk we may flirt with relegation ...4 points and we can all relax .

Negativity may well be unproductive but constructive criticism and discussing ways of how improvements can be made is not.
I still don't know what to make of Jurado. At times he looks great but at others he looks lost - and I think his distribtion and decision making can be poor when we're on the back foot.I don't think it's anuy coincidence that we keep being linked with wide players. In his defence, like everyone in the team, he does keep going and it's hard to fault his attitude. Sure, we can say that's a minimum requirement but a glance at players at other clubs will tell you it's not a given!

Jurado is supposed to be an attacking midfielder, yet I do not remember him posing a real threat on goal in any game. Some of his link up play, not last night, has been good, or getting better, yet despite his obvious skill with the ball at his feet, there are so many wayward passes. His speed is not one of his strong points either, so you never get the feeling that when he runs at a defence they start to panic. Last night we were made to look very poor by the fast counter attacks from the Saints and our defenders could not cope with it. We are playing to a ridged formation that some players on the bench find difficult to adapt their style to, but maybe we should have a second option when things are not working. Apart from Gomes who did play well? Looked like a team that was having a collective off night.

What concerns me about Jurado is that he seems very lightweight and is easily brushed aside . We can surely find a more aggressive attacking midfielder .

I thought that too. Much was made of how S'ton changed their system to counteract Troy and Iggy, as did Spurs. So the answer seems to be...yes.

That is probably the worst performance I have seem from a Watford team over the past 12 months - well I certainly cannot recall one as poor as last nights.
I have mentioned several times that I was not sure about Jurado and last night was no different, but Abdi was no better last night. Hopefully just a "bad day at the office" and the additional days we have to prepare for the Swansea game will be put to good use on the training pitches.
Good to see H last night, our paths have not crossed for ages...
In summary, crap game, got soaked through and with the M3 closed, got home at 01.30 - wonderful day!

Including Liverpool every side has adopted the 3-5-2 formation. Also because of our compact style out of posession (we move en block from side to side) they are all looking to hit diagonal balls from wide near halfway line into the space down the wing. Against Newcatle we allowed 15 crosses I think.
Teams certainly think they have worked us out.
Also we have a thin squad and the players will tire if not already a fact.
With Jurado, remember Flores wants to play one up front and the number 10 slot was for him with Abdi & Diamante as back-up. This never materialised but winger is not his position. Flores says his ball retention is key to the team. Jurado got to play there 2nd half against Newcastle with no real improvement.

I remember a game at Brunton Park Carlisle on a Tuesday evening in Feb 1970 in the first "old Div. 2" season. I went up on the Supporters Club coach which set off from the ground at 9am. This was before the M6 was open all the way, there were significant gaps from the M1 to Birmingham and north from Lancaster over the Pennines. We got to Brunton Park around 5.30pm after interminable traffic jams, everywhere was closed so we couldn't get anything to eat before the ground opened at 7pm!

We were playing a Carlisle United who finished that season in 12th place - 7 places above us. They were destined to finish 4th next season followed by promotion to the old Div. 1 in 73/74 - while we were enjoying the last of the Bonser years by being relegated twice to arrive in the old Div. 4 in 75. How times change!

We watched the game in flurries of snow and a biting wind. Anyway, we were soundly thrashed 5-0 and lost captain Keith Eddy to an injury (which kept him out of the FA Cup Semi-final at a sand- and mud-bound White Hart Lane). We were then attacked after the match by a United mob, who put a brass tap through a window on our coach. If you bear in mind that we had to drive back over the hills, which were covered in snow on the narrow and twisting A6, with the wind whistling through the coach, you will understand that it wasn't the best of return journeys! We arrived back at Vicarage Road at a dark and bitterly cold 5.30am the next morning long before the first buses were running to get me back to college.

    M3 closed? Pah! :emoticon-0142-happy

Well, I've been to Carlisle but on a glorious sunny August day (I think) for a 2-0 win complete with the obligatory Johnno piledriver. Done well over 70 away teams with Watford from Plymouth to Gillingham to Newcastle to Wrexham (thrice!!!) to Swansea and back.

Only trip that comes close was to Gosforth to see Saracens v Newcastle. Stadium in the middle of nowhere, freezing March night. Fortunately the rugby club bar opened up early, Saracens won and we partied on til at least 11pm (with the players from both sides, internationals such as Doddie Weir, Michael Lynagh et all included, and I got home in time to pay the milkman as the sun came up. Brilliant stuff. Wouldn't happen in football, not sure about rugby these days either - so much has changed since, over the last 15+ years.

that was my first year supporting watford , i think im scarred by those next four years--character building i think they call it--crowds down to three thousand ,poor fare on the pitch and seemingly little to look forward to --but you do ,there is always hope !!!
