RIP David Bowie - another icon of my childhood years sadly gone. Regret I never got to see him live. Was aware of his heart problems that caused him to stop touring around 2005, but not this recent battle with cancer.
Hunky Dory probably my favourite album, Moonage Daydream my favourite song ( my mate at the time always called it Daynage Moondream!) A genuine icon, just like Monk and Mingus
A giant of the music industry has passed, very sad day.Heard earlier today that he had also suffered 6 heart attacks, shocking! Will always remember lying in bed as a teenager, listening to Five Years on top volume,a truly magnificent song! R.I.P. Ziggy.
As many who knew him have said, during the 70s he lived life to such excess that he was fortunate to survive, almost like 'Rock & Roll Suicide', this is the final track on the famous 'Ziggy Stardust' album, a very moving signing off...
david you have been such a big part of my life i love you more than my wife memories can never be taken away from me are so precous and can not be taken and you were a genius of a musical superstar let knowbody be mistaken so many amazing people come and go but from you we will never recover you check out that universe im sure there are more adventures to discover love peace and happyness to be imported to your son but im no friend of your ex wife angie for obvious reason
Extremely sad news, another taken too soon. All the people I grew up listening to and watching seem to be dropping like flies. RIP David, more talent to the rock band in the sky.
RIP David A real tribute to his talent was the way he constantly re-invented himself. Was fortunate enough to see him live on the Serious Moonlight tour ( 1983 ?? amazing 33 years ago !!) Queued overnight to get tickets. His music will always be with me.
Three heroes in my life one was Stan and one was Bowie....not mentioning the other. Very sad day..........
Not the greatest fan of his, but didn't realise how much of his stuff I actually liked until today. And after watching his new single , 'Blackstar' I also realised it was the theme music from 'The Last Panthers'...what a strange and mesmerising vid he did for that !!! All credit to the man for keeping his illness out of the public domain and to fight it in private.....and he was bloody hilarious in 'Extras' and obviously willing to take the p*** out of himself. RIP Mr Bowie
Bloody hell, I really enjoyed "The Last Panthers" and really like the theme tune. I had no idea it was Bowie!! Just listened to it again and it's so obvious that it's him!! What a clutz I am!
It wouldn't be a miss if this world stopped for a week to play tribute to the greatest musical artist the UK has ever produced . Most of us knew he wasn't long for this world and he did well to last to fight as long as he did so there was no shock here as fans at the V&A thing a while back knew he terminal But then again we all are His music however lives on forever and won't get beaten as a artist IMO He simply changed how we think Beautiful man
