I really hope so mate. He'll get my full support but I can't help but think he'll be another Obertan, Gouff or Marv and flatter to deceive.
Such is the cloud above my swede right now....

I dunno mate, it depends if he catches the same virus the other French lads seem to get at NUFC. The key to integrating them is balance and experience in the squad, otherwise they'll go missing like players from any country would.

He's a physical player, so I'd be more confident that he'll hit the ground running than somebody like Thauvin. FT will come good as well, when (or if) the pressure of relegation is off. This guy's more suited to the scrap though for certain.

Looking at your other 'rumour' I think he'd actually play well alongside Shelvey, that'd be a very good CM in my opinion.

I wouldn't be fazed by that midfield at all. M'Vila and Catts would dominate them.

Shelvey is a good player and I wouldn't mind him at Sunderland, he would fit perfectly into the AM role that we are desperate for. I wouldn't want him playing in a holding role mind...

Good knowledge about Saivet, I still assumed he was a winger. Be interesting to see what SM has planned for him with Anita, Colback and Tiote already there.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I'm a little confused at this signing, if it's true that he no longer plays wide. Where would Shelvey come in if this new lad is in the middle? You'd like to think that Wijnaldum will never again be wasted on the wing, and would occupy the number 10 role. Sissoko apparently fancies himself box to box, although I think he's more effective on the right on the break (and helping Janmaat who always bombs forward). We also have De Jong pushing for a start, and Perez who surely belong behind the main striker?

Is he a DM then? to play alongside Colback? If so, what when we have Tiote and Anita back?

Think we'll see Tiote leaving soon.

Saivet is a direct replacement for Tiote. He can however be employed on the wing if needs must. I don't rate him myself, but if he signs then I will give him the usual support.

One day we will sign someone from France who turns out to be OK, could he be the one? (Obertan, Gouffran, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Cabella, Thauvin, Riviere, )

M'Vila is a great player on his day I've sang his praises from the day I clapped eyes on him, but Cattermole is completely redundant in the modern game. He's depicted as this marauding destroyer but from where I'm sat he's just not very good at all, I'd compare him to Scott Parker, huff and puff, no creativity. In today's BPL he's dead weight, no other club has a 'Cattermole'.

I'm not gonna big Shelvey up that much, I still have a bit of hate for him from his bindipping days. He's just got a bit of steel about him that I think would work well in their current side, I'm not saying I'd want them both here in Manchester.

These France-based players both of your clubs are being linked to aren't players I'd get excited about, but every squad needs depth and if you can't add a first teamer who'd offer you 'next level' then the next best thing imo is to improve on slightly what you have, at least.

Wait - we've just gone 3-5-2, right, but have nobody on the left (Mbabu is a right back, end of story). Perhaps Steve's thought - if I combine a winger and a defensive midfielder, I must get a wing back. So he's going to jump into the left side of that new fangled formation, with Wijnaldum, Sissoko and Shelvey tripping over each other in the middle.

I think we are going to change formations

    GK - Elliot
    CM - Anita
    CM - Colback
    CM - Tiote
    CM - Saviet
    CM - Shelvey
    ACM - Sissoko
    ACM - Perez
    ACM - Wijnaldum
    ACM - De Jong
    ACM - Thauvin

We really need to pack out the middle of the park. Dont worry about conceeding and dont worry about scoring, just keep the ball and create a load of chances.

We might need to buy some CM's for subs tbh, Marveaux and Goufran arent natural CM's, Maybe call Gael Bigi back as cover for CM or Vuckic.

I do make it 14 players on our books that can play in CM in some way or another, either attcking or defending

Why does everyone keep saying he's ****?

Usually there's enough ambivalence and mystery about their French football experience we can delude ourselves for a couple of days before he plays and proves to everyone how **** he is.

It's like now half our support just watches the French league, knowing we'll see half of them play for us eventually.

I think we just have a load of gamblers for supporters. Or they are just trying to look like some kind of transfer savant by using the law of averages. i.e. we've had maybe 5 good frenchies against 32065 bad ones.
