You started throwing insults and getting snide comments I allowed it twice before I retaliated. You still persist throwing them even now.
Correction, he was a Rock God in the eyes of so many followers, he was not a GOD in the true definition of a GOD! HAPPY??????
Absolutely like i said i should have kept my feelings to myself mate but I also explained my reasons badly.
I was not a fan of everything he did, but you have to admire his amazing ability to continually reinvent himself and to try new things. Along with Marc Bolan, he virtually invented glam rock, and yet was also able to produce 'pop' music and also the very different 'Absolute Beginners.' He probably made it into more people's music collections than most over the years, and covering more different genres than almost any other well known artist. RIP.
Great music. I am still unsure about him and those other 70's stars who have a somewhat chequered past if reports are to be believed regarding underage sex (Page, Bolan etc etc). I have never really looked into it far enough to fully comment but it does make me somewhat hesitant to get too misty eyed about his passing. There was also the issue of racism although he did say this was down to the mind altering drug taking he was partaking in. Some of his music was fantastic though.
I do get Chaos' comments and I do appreciate what he says. Whilst there tends to be an overreaching hysteria when a public figure dies; the famous example was when the Serial Adulteress and Somewhat BiPolar Diane was killed. Whilst I applaud and support his stance on the thousands dying around the world needlessly which requires a spotlight on: such as (let's call them what they really are, shall we?) refugees from Syria and the malaria victims of Africa amongst others, there are times when a public figure, whom each of us may have taken to heart, dies and we feel something. It's happened to me over the years and I won't deny it. When Sir Bobby died I admit to having a moist eye. When five of my favourite musicians, Alexis Korner, Jon Lord, Rory Gallagher, Tony Ashton and Cozy Powell, went I was somewhat saddened. Of course hundreds of musicians have died over the years and some of which I have seen and they just didn't register the same with me. Last week the drummer of The Specials left us and I nodded and acknowledged his time with us. As I did when Jack Bruce, Gary Moore, Lemmy and now Bowie. Just an acknowledgement. Not every one can have that special places in our hearts but it doesn't belittle all the thousands who, as Chaos suggests, are dying needlessly elsewhere.
Ziggy. His best work was done in the early seventies. With exception of, of course, 'The Laughing Gnome' which is even sub-McCartney standard.
Heroes. Hands Down. Bowie was a complete ****ing legend of music and his influence on popular culture should never be underestimated. RIP.
The vast majority are not from Syria and are economic migrants. They will bring their bullshit tribalism and backward death cult with them. **** them. Bowie will be missed. An icon and a musical chameleon. So many favourite albums. Speed of Life is one of my favourite instrumental numbers.
Life on Mars, Heroes [I belt that in the car ALL of the time], Young Americans, Let's Dance, Modern Love, Ashes to Ashes, Man Who Sold the World, Aladdin Sane, Drive in Saturday, Jean Genie, Ziggy Stardust.....Quite simply some of the greatest songs ever written.
