Absolute legend, gutted to hear this, another bit of my youth now pushing up the daisies, one of the most original artists of all time. RIP
A truly unique individual who reinvented himself time and again. He always struck me as somebody who enjoyed their life which at the end of the day is all anybody can do. RIP
Gutted, seen him so many times through so many era's of his characters and music. R.I.P. Time to find the Starman..
Some awEsome music and images from him. He even performed much better at Roker Park than a lot of players we had. RIP
Absolute icon, not everybody's taste but still a proper musician who was loved by many. Turned down a Knighthood back in the day as well, RIP 'Sir' Dave.
wasn't it Bowie who infamously said "Hello Newcastle" when he appeared at Roker Park? I will not pretend that I was a big fan of him or a lot of his music, although he was undoubtedly a massive influence on popular music and culture..
Not only enjoyed his life but enjoyed influencing & enriching many generations of lives and cultures - a legendary social artist -even circumstances around his death enigmatic - a new ground breaking album - Black Star - released near to his death -first lines for Lazarus - lyrics written in black on black background - "look up i'm in heaven" - how he lived his life on the edge of reality - almost pre planned controversy
Are BBC not simply being respectful to an enigmatic influential legend - like him or not -one great social starman
