I did'nt want him to go. But FFS CAN'T WE HAVE A BRITISH MANAGER WITH CHAMPIONSHIP EXPERIENCE? Recycle everything at the Valley.

It would be a 6/10 appointment if Riga came back.

The plus points are that he is undoubtedly the best of Douche's Network managers, he knows Charlton, he did a good job last time, and he is popular with the fans. Another big plus is that he is not Carol Fry.

The main negative is that Riga is associated with Meire and Douche.

Whoever comes in, and Riga is ten levels better than Fry, has a simply huge job on to keep us up.

PS: If Riga did keep us up, give the bloke a 3 year contract this time FFS !

Because Meire and Duchatelet are xenophobic and anti British where coaches are concerned <cheers>

    He's an improvement - not a saviour.

The final two games against Watford and Blackpool caused a lot of hysteria due to he fact it secure championship status. But there were other times where he set us up to lose (I think Leicester away?).

The squad is also weaker. I hope he informs RD and KM that he will need adequate investment - then a little more.

Given what happened to him last time, surely Riga would seek guarantees before agreeing to come back?

It was widely stated that the reason he was replaced by Bob Peeters in 2014 was because he told Duchatelet that the Network players were not good enough. Although not Network, the same applies to Makienok, Ba, Ceballos, Bergdich, Sarr etc in 2016.

He would need quality players, and quickly.

Everyone likes Riga too much, at least his return will prove he's nothing special and wasn't given enough time to fail last time round.

I liked Riga, but he was treated like a dog last time. The only reason for his return would be to appease us, so I hope he's got more self-respect than to return for the rest of the season.

Also, after being sacked twice already by Duchatelet, his return would prove he's an idiot. He knows that he won't have control over transfers at all.

This fella is the lesser of so many evils.

If he don't turn things around, give it ten games and he'll start to get caned.

You must be going soft Royston.

I assume this mean Fraeye stays on in some capacity - which will be a horrendous decision.

Nothing about Riga is confirmed yet, but the story came from Meire cipher Rich Cawley.

Becoming Charlton manager seems to be the Belgian form of jury duty.

But Fry masterminded our survival last time <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh> (That's what I imagine Ollie Groome's face looked like when he typed that pathetic statement out)

Somebody made an excellent point that we lost a lot of good people behind the scenes that would of been pivotal in our survival last time out.

The current set of players don't have 1/10000000 of the heart and passion of that squad either, and IMO are of a lesser quality.

Better than Fraeye but I ain't buying it bloody cynical ploy to dampen protests Riga is Roland's mate obviously to be sacked remployed sacked by him.
Riga did OK had a pretty easy job keeping us up in my view.
We were never goin down .
He wasn't that amazing in. My view .
If he comes in gets a result or two the. Protests will die as our Lilly livered fans will just accept it

I just don't want another Belgian manager. I want The Valley to be a Belgian-free zone.
