Pundits backing me up. He can't even see the ball. How can it be deliberate...

However, he did flick his hand out to the side. His arm is coming up and if that hits the ball then no penalty, but I thought he flicked his hand out to the side and pushed the ball away.

He couldn't see the ball. He didn't know where it was and wasn't looking at the ball. He was just trying to get his bearings. A handball has to be deliberate.

His arm was outstretched but I doubt it was intentional. Bet it wouldn't have been given at the other end though.

It is a tough one, but I did see his hand flick out. That certainly isn't a natural movement.

    Poor penalty decision, IMO.
Not the only poor decision. Rose was late for a tackle, either side of half time, and not even a yellow, when you can bet your house, had Wanyama committed both, it would have been two yellows and a red.

I can see why Spurs were given a penalty. His arm wasn't in a natural position. A bit harsh but Dyer shouldn't have had his arm out like that.

    Define "natural position".
He had just spun 180, so quite natural to put an arm out to steady your balance.
I think there are two things in question.
    1. Was the handball intentional? - I don't think it was.
    2. Did the ref actually see the hand make contact with the ball? - I don't think he did, judging on his and the players' positions, in which case he should have played on. I think he saw the ball slightly change direction and reacted to Rose claiming deliberate handball.
IMO, Rose benefitted from several decisions made by Madley, today.

The biggest issue of all that I have with the decision is that the ref couldn't even see it. He wanted to give Spurs a penalty.

My opinion. I can't prove it and you can't prove otherwise.

I think when it comes to what goes through a referee's mind I know more than you. I can guarantee he didn't want to give Spurs a penalty. That implies he is biased which is complete garbage. He may have seen it, he may have guessed or one of the other officials saw it and they told him through his earpiece.

And the fact some think it wasn't and some can understand why it was, shows that it was a grey one and not black or white.

I was just thinking that if we had some luck and a few Refereeing decisions we might actually get a result or two?

I wasn't aware you were inside the referee's head.

As a referee myself, I have a fair idea.

Don't be silly, nobody knows what goes on inside a Referees head, not even a Referee.

As I said earlier in this thread, Rose could easily have been the recipient of two yellow cards, today, so wouldn't have even been on the pitch to contest the handball decision.
Yep, a bit of luck, like that, might help us, in our times of need.

We need a new pest like Schneiderlin that is always chipping away at the ref
