It was a foul, obviously, but in situations like that where the fouled player exaggerates the contact so theatrically I'd like to see a booking for the fouled player as well as still giving the penalty.
Imo if he hadnt jumped on contact that was a serious injury waiting to happen. It was the bottom of boot on a shin planted on the ground. Depay did the right thing imo.
"I think it's always difficult to play such an opponent, they are defending with 10 or 11 players all the time. We created more in the second half but they were very organised," Van Gaal told BT Sport. "We won the match and that's the most important thing. I said in advance to the boys, the only thing that counts is that we are in the next round. 'We have to perform better than we did today. We have to do it better, of course. We have to play quicker and then the gaps are coming - and you have to see it as a player. 'We can improve but how many chances have Sheffield United created? Nobody is talking about that, they're talking about the fantastic defence of Sheffield United." Including you!! What a complete clueless fcktard
LVG doesn't even know which league SU play. He called them a Championship side despite being in League 1. What a dullard
Scholes said: “The players looked bored themselves. There’s no spirit, there’s nobody having a go at each other, there’s no smiling, there’s no entertainment. I think even Van Gaal on the bench looks bored, but he’ll come out and say he’s happy. “It wasn’t a great performance, will he [Van Gaal] be happy with it? I think he probably will be. I think that’s the way he likes to play football.” He is absolutely spot on. As the players walked off towards the tunnel they looked like they'd lost 10-0. I wonder if Scholes is acting as the mouthpiece for Giggs??
Very good article. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Manchester-United-serve-dire-performance.html Only thing I disagree about is the fans werent being sacastic when Depay took a shot. They were encouraging it. And willing the team to do more of that. Otherwise very good report.
I don't see how a swan dive helps avoid injury. There was very little force in the tackle. Depay did the professional thing but I don't think it should be condoned.
Hammond defo fouled Depay. How he gone down is debatable but Hammond touched the man not the ball so is definitely a pen.
It was anything but a swan dive. I don't get that comment at all, he didn't leap forward or anything. He did what anyone would do if they were afraid, he lifted both feet off together. I really don't see what was wrong tbh. You've not disputed the fact it was studs going straight for shin. Anything that stopped him getting injured is perfectly fine by me. Nothing to condone... if it was a dive I'd say so regardless of the club he plays for.
It was a fantastic way to get the point across to the spoofer. I credited the Chelsea fans for booing Costa and Hazard after Mourinho was sacked and I credit our fans for sticking it to LVG. It's our club, he doesn't get it so he should do the honourable thing.
Yeh I did think they were sticking it to Van Gaal, by cheering to say "this is what we want" instead of it being sarcasm. The place seemed to lift, or at least that was my impression but I may be wrong. He needs to to do "the honourable thing" but he won't.
I know. I mentioned it earlier. It's clearly a foul I just don't like players theatrically reacting when they feel a bit of contact.
Doubt that would have happened. I'd like him to go down if the contact causes him to go down without adding any theatrics. I'm actually asking that he does nothing at all beyond what physics causes him to do. It's still a foul.
Given that his leg was planted on the ground and another player's foot was coming in studs up, the laws of physics would have caused a broken leg When an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, might be the law of physics that applies here
He did what any one of us would have done as an automatic reaction to self-preserve given the circumstances of a player coming in with studs to the shin. Not a dive at all.
