I can see why Koeman is reluctant to start him :(

    Indeed.

Good to see us turn up for pretty much the full 90 minutes for once. Good to see Ron be proactive at HT for once. A good goalkeeping performance, a lack of a top, clinical striker, and by all accounts another stupid defensive mistake, have all combined to lose us this.

Harsh. His chances created compared to the rest of the squad says a lot.

That's his bugaboo. When he's on he is aggressive, constantly running at people and forcing the action. When he is off he dallies on the ball before finally playing in puny crosses or a blah pass back towards our own end. Like I said before I think Bertrand's willingness to get forward gives him a great option, but when he is not marched with Bertrand he tends to run out of ideas.

Never mind, I don't have to watch Match of the Day tonight and I've got 6 points for this result in the Prediction League - I am now going for the record number of Southampton scores predicted correctly.

Blimey TinTin, come on fella. He has not said he is only interested in stopping Palace. He wasn't being black and white. He was just offering up some reasons as to why we may have gone with that formation. We may have started with a different one and still lost.

Saints lost as I expected (but always nice to be proven wrong) and Eastleigh came so close to a well-earned victory - not a good day for football but at least I saw my Dad - so that makes up for it! :emoticon-0100-smile (Have not been back to the UK in nine months).

After everything you say, you think those words from OROW are harsh? Seriously?

Ah well, we can concentrate on salvaging something in the league now.

Incredibly negative in a home game.

Last 10 games: 1 win, 1 draw (vs Villa at Home), 8 draws. Knocked out of two cups. Speaks for itself.

The only positive is how much better we were in the second half with a more positive system.

I think we need to give it a right go against Watford for the start . Long, Mane, Tadic and Juanmi all on the pitch from the start for me.

Do we credit Palace at all? Decent team that. Not amazing, but decent, hence why they're 7th in the league.

This losing ****e is getting extremely boring. Did we have any positives as that palace team on paper looked pretty poor

We are in a relegation battle this season, it's as simple as that. The defending is awful, we controlled that game for the majority but our defence cost us. Long works so hard to have little help at all, the first half tactics were bad, we had a couple of half chances but there was no pressure as barely anyone made themselves available.

One win in 10 says it all.
    Koeman is on thin ice

We didn't take our chances again tho. Palace are a good team , but it's same old for us.

Second half when we changed to a back four we were much better. And that hopefully this will be the last time we will ever see this extremely negative 5-3-2 system from the start.

That's the same Palace side, Bolasie aside, who are currently 7th in the league, two points behind 5th, and who had an incredible away record in 2015?

No South coast derby :( Unless we draw the Slummers in the next round, but I can't see them getting past Bolton.

No, since then he came on, fluffed a chance and that was Koeman's fault for not selling him earlier.
