Well if Afobe does join Boremouth and we're stuck with Grabbarse it just confirms how inept we are at doing transfer business. Looks like McNally has made the mother of all **** ups
Can't believe how badly we've messed up wit Afobe. I genuinely think if we had bid whatever had in the summer at the start of the window he would already be here. Fingers crossed we have other targets but I'm not convinced. If someone could point out another striker with a similar scoring record we could get at his age I'll be impressed. It would still have been a risk but less risky than many foreign strikers. Also, he'd still hold value as he's guaranteed goals in the championship. Massive mistake on this one I think.
Especially if we end up spending that sort of money (which we will) on somebody like Dwight Gayle edit - look what I've just seen! Gayle will be closer than ever before if this goes through. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/01/0...e-line-up-113m-bid-for-french-striker-gregoi/
I am really not sure about Afobe and think he could be over-rated. He is certainly not as potent this year as he was last term.
Surely if we were after Afobe we would of made a similar bid to that in the summer. People who say Bournemouth will get Afobe because we didn't sell Grabban are really putting 2 and 2 together and making 5. The likelihood is that both offers were on the table at the same time. Not saying I would not want Afobe, but think Naismith is number 1 target in that area as a similar priced more proven option.
True, but still on his appearances he has not had the cutting edge that he had IMO a couple of years ago.
Isn't it fun to watch grown men(?) cry and pretend to know everything about the goings on at the club even though it's been proved time and time again that nothing is said by the club until it's all over and done with! So called fans would rather believe dodgy journalists than their own club's board and management! It really is quite pathetic!
All this "if Bournemouth get Afobe and we're stuck with Grabban, it's all Mcnally's fault!" Unless you are a director of the club, you have no idea what has been proposed!
Sorry, yes I see what you mean. I am not a Grabban fan myself but the general drift of comment is pretty vitriolic.
Don't get me wrong Thurnby, I'd love it if we got rid of Grabban, I'd be happy to take a loss on the deal, but I don't run the club and I have no idea what's been said behind closed doors! Perhaps the grumblers would rather have Tony Fernandez running our club! Well he has got money and knows how to pay over the odds!
I suppose we can only go on what we have heard and that is that we have turned down a £7/8m for Grabban which we should have taken imo. He isnt good enough really and that money could have gone towards someone else. Afobe is younger and i am convinced better than Grabban. Not saying he should be our no.1 target but id rather have his type than Grabban!
I understand what you are saying but the fact that we turned down a bid of £8M is NOT fact, it's conjecture propagated by greedy agents!
Read Norwich @ReadNorwich Bit of transfer news, Benik Afobe is not in the Wolves team today. Supposedly on the south coast pending a medical on Monday. Looks like #NCFC might be missing out on him... please log in to view this image
