United are proud of their world wide fanbase and don't try to claim otherwise. Without a large fanbase, no club can flourish. Hell, you guys have a pretty large support in Northern Ireland. City obviously realise the benefits of upscaling and that's why they are touring far flung parts in search of new support. Just don't let the real Mancunians know!

Oh yeah, no question about that, in fact I read somewhere that 70-80% of Leeds season ticket holders don't reside in an LS postcode.

I just read your post as an attack on their non-Mancunian connections whilst not being from Manchester yourself, my bad. Although Man City have always had a large OOT fanbase themselves, drawing support from all over Greater Manchester and the NW (not as large a catchment as Leeds, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, etc though)

No, it was more aimed at those who claim that City are the "local, working man's" club and don't want to be global. For their business model to work, they'll need to increase their revenues and the best way to do that is to tap into the global market.

Did you ever post on the original 606 btw? There's a guy who drinks in my local called Greeny who's a Leeds fan and would have posted on your board.

That might be because their season starts a week later than yours does <doh>

Well every football club is a "working mans club" really. For every Man Utd fan from America, China or Australia there's a lad from a council estate in Eccles, Odsall, Miles Platting or Little Hulton who bleeds the club...although chances are they've been priced out by your owners...

I posted now and then on 606 but the "closing at 11" thing put me off a lot...I stumbled across this forum by chance.
