Our Defence. Brown Jones Mathews Kaboul Now we have Kirchhoff. Be sods law for Kane to batter him from pillar to post and dump him in the injury room. Five of our nine defenders are proven crocks. A continuously changing back line is not good. This doesn't inspire me. I'll give him my full support but hope to god that defence gets more investment.
This is what I said when we were first linked. Penny pinching to cover the cracks with an INCREDIBLY risky option. This guy makes Rodwell look indestructible. I've read today that Caulker interest ended as we have Kirchhoff. Kone apparently was due to contact issues but if that's the case why would we then not continue down the Caulker path? Sounds to me like it was one of the three, with Kirchhoff being the top option as he's the cheapest. Unless we get incredibly lucky with injuries this could be us ****ed.
Big Sam has said the Caulker deal won't go through now because of this signing so can only assume we're looking for a different type of CB next. Gassama is a rb so hopefully there's somebody else on the cards. It real problem area that rb spot.
Jones has played every game this season hasnt he? More or less. Others are worrying but i prefer all of them to Coates: rarely injured but not very good
Funny how people see things differently. I read that as we were only going after one CB, Kone was our first choice, we missed out on him so Kirchoff was next on the list. I have a feeling we might go after Byram at Leeds now as he has shown that is another position we are targeting.
I think Sam is going to stick with the 4-4-2 now, mate. So he is probably thinking that 2 out of Coates, Brown, O'Shea, Kirchoff, Kaboul and Beadling, is enough. Playing with fire. We'll be lucky to get 2 out of that lot on the pitch some games Don't know why I said 4-4-2 4-3-3 or 4-5-1
Maybe this kid is one for a linchpin role in the future when JOS and Brown retire over the next couple of seasons. Also don't forget Wes was a full back in his time so he can obviously cover the RB shortage if Jones falters, and JOS covered LB at ManU in his time. For all it may be a "mix and match'" it is at least practical with shed loads of experience and emerging talent. Sam seems to be heading to tighten things up at the back and once he has got that put to bed he can sort out the hopefully sort out the midfield tactics.
He's not really one for the future though with just an 18 month contract Nostalgic. The lad will hardly have time to find his favourite watering hole before he's off again. Has anyone done any real digging into the full history of the lads injuries, or why he didn't / couldn't fight his way back into the first 11? It seems to me he's being already regarded as a massive risk without us necessarily knowing the whole story.
His injuries occurred about the time Guardiola came to Bayern so the lad did not possibly get the opportunity to impress or could not fit into the changed style of game. I can remember some time back when Wayne Rooney got a foot injury playing for England then he suffered from the same or similar injury quite regularly leading to time out. Either way, foot or ankle injuries are usually overcome by letting them heal themselves with time. Whatever it is or becomes, Sam has done the deed and his record shows he is quite cute in his judgment of players and as a sideline manager I can live with his choice.
Lorient are moaning that you pulled the plug on the Kone deal, which indicates to me that you got your first choice centre half. I don't know much about the big kraut you've just signed but unless you were getting Kone for the same money, you've probably dodged a bullet. Lorient have a poor defence even by Ligue 1 standards, taking two of theirs for a relegation scrap is probably a bad idea.
