We embark on what will probably be another short cup adventure for us. With the exception of the 2005-2006 victory over cup holders Chelsea and Powell's 2013-2014 FA Cup advancement to the quarter finals have been the only highlights I can remember (barring recent games against Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham during League One days). We're rarely dealt a decent hand in these competitions, which have in recent times always ended up with games against Huddersfield or Sheffield Wednesday. This is a fixture that I really cannot get excited about, that I've actually got tickets to table top clash Harlequins vs. Saracens in the Aviva Premiership, where I'm hoping that Harlequins will beat the undefeated Saracens. Getting back to more recent club news, the protests of the past week have been successful; the hierarchy must now realise that they are losing the loyalty of the fanbase. It is also good that we're getting quite a bit of media attention, that the club have to take some form of action or risk boycotting.

    The Opposition
Colchester United are themselves having quite the nightmare of a season, having one of the worst defences amount all four leagues. They have failed to win in their last ten games, accumulating nine losses and a draw. Manager Kevin Keen has only recently taken over the helm at Colchester United after being sacked at Reading back in December. Callum Harriott recently had a stint at Colchester United in which the fans took to his performances, but has since been recalled to us, and could line up against. Former Addicks Darren Ambrose and Marvin Sordell are among their current players that could look to start in this FA Cup fixture.

    Cup Run
Given that form is useless in cup games, I have looked into Colchester United's cup run:
    Cup Run.png
They've not played a league team at the moment, though they might have had an encounter with the Wealdstone Raider. Needless to say they came close to losing against Conference Premier, only for a dramatic late goal by Callum Harriott to seal their place in the third round.

    Team Lineup
The Under-21s recent match against Brentford had a few first team players in, and we should expect to see them make appearances. Given our injury list and new arrivals, I expect a couple to start getting them some much needed match time. Unfortunately Callum Harriott is cup tied already, having already played for Colchester United. I have gone for the following:

I think that a mixture of trying out the two new defensive centre backs, in addition to a few youngsters making a start.

    Odds

The bookies are really predicting much in this game. We have slightly better odds, but not by much. Could we be seeing a cup upset today?

    Outcome
I don't think that we're going to win this game. We're always terrible in cup competitions, and I can see us succumbing to a late goal, given the lack of games that many of the players would have played.

I am pretty certain that Harriots cannot "line up against" since we allowed him to play in the last round.

Lookman and Vetokele are not fit. Vetokele has only played 45 minutes since September. Lookman is suffering with a hamstring injury.

I'll be there for this one, ticking off ground 46/92 for me.

Absolutely no idea what to expect. I saw Colchester lose 1-0 at Gillingham the other week and they're really not that good. But then neither are we, and it being the FA Cup means that there are without question depths we can still plumb...

I read that Chelsea are looking to get Lookman to sign before the Colchester match.

    ;)

Also it's Donaldo. It's a shame my folks moved to SE London when I was a baby as I would of been a Roma fan as that's the team my dad followed until the move. I know which team I would rather be watching week in week out atm.

I am going to Colchester tomorrow with the sole intention of giving the regime 90 mins of abuse.

The Sun says we are looking to raise 2 million by offloading Gudmundsson, Watt and Vetokele. I would hope we could get more than 2 Million.

Vetokele? Who would buy a player who can't get himself fit? I expect JBG wants out and we know about Watt, but Igor? There's a mystery for you.

If we sold all three of them, and for that pitiful price (we really should be getting 2m minimum just for Watt) the protests would be massive!

Surely an astute CEO would hang on to JBG (who is not that good anyway...) until after the Euros, where he will be in the shop window for Iceland?

Our CEO is astute enough to do what the Supreme Leader tells her and that's where her astuteness ends.
