On the 9th January 2016 at 3pm, Newcastle United travel to Watford, with the odds stacked against them. The newcastle faithful have no reason to believe they will get anything from this match, due to lack of clinical finishing recently, and Newcastle's dreadful recent history in cup competitions. With it looking doubtful that Newcastle United will bring in any new faces before the game, Newcastle United fans will travel down to Watford feeling like they already know what is coming. If the usual starting 11 are chosen, then there's a good chance Newcastle fans will be in for a similar show to what they having been getting recently. Newcastle will likely set up to forsake possession and attack on the counter, which seems to be the only positive for Steve McClarens side, on top of the fact that Watford have lost their last 2 home games against Man City and Spurs. Could this be a turning point for Newcastle United? Will Steve McClaren's pick a similar line up to recent games, or will he be looking to give players who have regularly seen the bench a chance. Likely Newcastle Line up - --------------------Elliot------------- Janmaat-Mbemba-Coloccini-Dummet/Mbabu ------------Tiote-------Colback-- Sissoko--------De Jong----------Thuavin -----------------Mitrovic--------------- Like Watford Line up - ---------------Gomes----------------- Nyom---Cathcart--Britos----Holebas Abdi--Capoue---Watson---Jurado ---------Deeney---Ighalo------------- Watfords pair of strikers proved too much for Newcastle to handle in their last meeting. Will Coloccini and Mbemba learn from their past mistakes? please log in to view this image
The chance of McClarts playing a first team is slim enough. I expect Gouffran at DM, SDJ in the first eleven, probably a place for an Ameobi somewhere, and obviously we can't change the defence because we only actually have four anyway.
I'll be surprised if Watford play anything like a first choice XI. Multiple changes with Ighalo and Deeney nowhere to be seen. If we put out a decent XI with an intent to attack, we could get a result.
One of my favourite expressions or cliches, "get a result". So long as the game starts there will be a result. It could be a win or draw or loss. Rarely the game may be abandoned thereby avoiding a result but not an occurrence meriting the use of the expression, "get a result".
Mine is "at the end of the day" for it's pure arbitrariness. You'd think it would get used slightly less during winter months, but not so!
Better than Albert's efforts, but not as good as mine. We will put out a weakened team and lose. No bad thing really.
We won't be playing anywhere near a full strength team ( That's if we had one ). Remember we play Manure at home midweek after the Watford game. Watfords second string will also be too strong for us.
The two cups are the only feasible targets that this club could have and, yet, these won't be a priority at all. I would suggest that one would simply divorce all interest in these competitions and consider it a simply a charity second team friendly behind locked doors as anything else would be a massive disappointment. If it's running, the Welsh Grand National will be starting at 3.25 at Chepstow. I will be watching that instead.
Tufty's contract is skewed towards winning a trophy so don't be surprised if he does put out a strong (for us) team, personally this is one season to kick cup runs into the long grass as we are in enough trouble as it is.
Dont give a fcuk anymore. Tufty, Penfold and Baron Greenback can all go and shaft themselves with big fat dildos for all I care! They have ruined my club. Twattttttssss the lot of em!!
