As of next season he will have got the red but no suspension Which is a dangerous rule to bring in as if your in the last minute and someone is through on goal you might aswell just rugby tackle them if your only going to miss a few minutes
They call it triple punishment (Red card, penalty, suspension) for sometimes what is a very minor foul just as last man the rules are its a red card. So from next season they will take the suspension bit away from the scenario. As i pointed out its a potentially dangerous move
Professional fouls should be dealt with by a panel. Red card and penalty for all incidents but the suspension should be different for different cases.
... for me even simpler ... a deliberate foul (refs judgement) in the area is a penalty and a yellow card ... non-deliberate but still a foul (refs judgement) just a penalty ... a professional foul outside the area (if last man - perhaps even if not) straight red ... simples
It all comes down to the opinion of the reff who has a split second to make a judgement call. They are not computers or robots and so bad decisions will continue to happen unfortunately, At least we have moved forward with goal line technology
I agree. Each case should be assesed on his own merits and not trying to fit it into certain criteria
.. the only problem with that is 'consistency' .. the lack of which seems to be a constant gripe for managers...
So if you clatter someone on the edge of the box, you better hope its inside the box so you don't get suspended, thats a bit of a silly rule. I agree a panel should be used to judge the severity of the foul and whether a suspension would be justified.
