He's a spoofer plain and simple I'm afraid. I don't mind the lack of success, but stifling your players and sapping their confidence bcos you're either anally retentive or simply a coward, is completely unacceptable. No fan of any club should accept that. I think he's giving our youth a chance. Maybe not enough of a chance in the case of Januzaj or Wilson could be argued maybe but other than that he's backed Lingard and Pereira and a few of the young defenders. Who do you support?
I was only on there briefly... I was a bit of an antagonist on the spurs board I have to admit. They took offence at my disgust at Martin Jol's sacking for some reason. Remember one poster (named after Huddlestone) didn't like it at all. But I was only there for a few weeks so I can be forgiven.
There's definitely been an improvement in the attacking intent. The frustration is the tactical changes have been so obviously required for so long that it's difficult to credit the manager. Also Fellaini hasn't been playing. Poor fella isn't a bad player, he's just not what we need.
Some sure. The first half was still concerning though. Hesitancy, sideways passing. There should be clear instructions to the players that they should always seek to move the ball forwards. And instead of monitoring possession we should check out shots on goal and shots on target. The reliance on martial to get us out of trouble is worrying. If He is out injured or out of form and we are ****ed. Urgent need to get a proven goal scorer.
The first 15 mins showed promise and we were playing not only with good tempo but also good link up play. The problem was both Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger held back. If we truly want to let the reigns off, then we need to allow Schneiderlin do what he does best. But bcos we didn't, eventually the first half petered out. In the second half we played much more down the wings, as usual. I have no real problem with that, as we're United and we've always played with wingers. But what we always used to do was use our wingers to create space for our midfielders. It's so frustrating to see gaping holes in midfield we should be exploiting bcos the likes of Young and Martial are pulling their midfield out of position, only for nobody from our CM to go forward, and for the wingers to always lump balls in or try to do something individually which often doesn't pay off. It's the difference between being a slight improvement to being ****ing devastating.
I don't remember you Treble, sorry. Jol was better than who took over but Harry woke the sleeping giant.
TBF, in the second half I thought Schneiderlin started to get forward much more than usual. In the first half we were struggling to break them down (as usual) and I thought when we dropped back it was in an effort to draw them out.
You could be right about both things. I just know that we don't play through the middle enough. You can speed things up, and that is a slight improvement, but it still lacks ambition and inventiveness in the technical sense. I was watching PSG the other day. Granted they're a manufactured side, but the way they move the ball about in tight spaces and work the ball forward quickly is just sublime. One second they're working short triangles on the byeline and the next, they've switched the ball into midfield and a through ball to a forward, taking out a whole defence. I'm not expecting us to play like that, but I just wished post-Fergie we had someone come in and take us in that sort of direction. Be a bit more creative/inventive with our football. I'd forego the results for a process to deliver that. But anyway I digress, yeh some improvement, we're passing it quicker.
Phil Jones injured again btw. I'm seriously beginning to hold that against him. Fckin sick note waste of space
I was hoping Demba Ba would sign for Swansea this month, just so I could hear thousands of Welshman singing his surname.
He should join with his fellow crocks Wilshere and Diaby on the sick bed. Dumb as well with his Rambo-style challenges keep getting him injured .
Clearly has. Little steps though after the past month. Anyone expecting vintage united out of nowhere is bonkers.
This forum is turning into moan and groan fest!! This is a team that has not won a game in 8 matches. What did you think would happen? "Vintage" United? Just be happy we won and quit regurgitating the same old same. We have 19 shots in that game. 6 on target. That is a hell more than we have managed in a long time. This is a very true post!
But the point that many on here are making is that it has taken until now for that (19 shots, some attacking intent, decent forward passing etc ) to happen - and that is not good enough.
It's taken a comical winless run and speculation about a change of manager to get LVG's head (partially) out of his arse. The frustration is that under a braver, less stubborn manager the team would be comfortably in the top 4. The guy's being paid a fortune to hold Manchester United back and his only answer to how to improve the team seems to be to spend more money. Genius.
