I think local fans need to go read dortmund history.

Dortmund were bankrupt. Bayern paid the wages (2mil) to stop them holding. Their stadium was sold out from under them and they now rent it.

This is the context in which Klopp took them from to league title.

This is why he's so highly rated.

It's amazing what one win can do to Chrip up the spirits of the mancs.

Lfc fans need to go look at how lucky we are compared to just 5 years ago and count our lucky stars we got in first and got this guy. End of.... check it out just do that and stop wanting instant fixes before he's even bought a single player.

Not just talking about selling players (or the 2000s, Fergies full tenure) but losing them also, we replaced each with one or two quality players not 7/8 journeymen.

    Beckham
    Ronaldo
    Tevez
    Stam
    Cantona
    Pallister
    Bruce
    Irwin
    Cole
    York
    etc, etc

You sold people like Suarez, Alonso etc and bought 7/8 players with the money and tried to fit them in the team all at once. The fluidity and style is bound to suffer.

He may have wanted Benteke, but Klopp spends more time talking about him than anyone else... Unless he can adapt his game I think having worked with him for nearly a year, he may decide he doesn't quite fit.

He dropped him for Origi and left him out of two of the biggest games in City & Chelsea.

Milner probably will stay, more so that he wont want to leave as no one will match his contract.

    Don't disagree... however..

the season we came 2nd, our back up was N'gog El Zhar, Insua, Dossena... and that's always been the problem. While you guys had 6 players come through the youth team to not only bulk up the squad but be in the first team, we never had that (**** academy on our behalf, and a lot of luck on your behalf). It meant that we couldn't afford to just go buy 2 quality players to replace them, because 1 injury meant we then had to rely on those mentioned above who clearly weren't good enough (despite Dossena scoring an awesome lob against you guys *ahem 1-4 ahem*). We were almost forced to go buy 6/7 players to bulk our the squad, but those players cost a few million here or there and it never let the team gel.

    I think he's been too generous with 95%, I would say 75% and that's being generous. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35214815

It has to be no more Mr Nice Guy now. He has to start being ruthless.

Just saw the pundit analysis on MOTD. I saw the match yesterday but only noticed when they said: they're right, Benteke barely got in the box! <doh>

You make it sound like Fergie was the only person ever to do this. I remember Liverpool in the 70's and 80's doing the same thing. When you're at the top, player recruitment is quite easy, and you are generally only looking at 1 maybe 2 additions to the squad each year.

Meh player recruitment is easy to **** up at the top

Look at Veron, or shevchenko or Jimmy Carter in 1990

You can seriously **** up at the top too.

Look at Chelsea right now failing to address costs dodgy hammy

The main mistake is not balancing the improvement due to impatience.

I find there is a natural pace of change. Too slow and like everton will be the sharks will eat you up buy taking what you do have. Too much too soon and you lose all semblance of team and risk having muck.

Frankly you've got to crawl before you can walk and walk before you run... start with the base team, then progress in things like cups and europa and build up squad then.

Teams with plastics think top 4 then let's go for cl and as city prove you need 4 or 5 years in Europe to get seeding to set you up to get to qf.

No one manager can get it done... That's why club structure at the top is vital.... and why neither Utd nor lfc are set up for anything other than boom or bust... once LVG or Klopp goes what structures are there to continue on.. none it's rip up and start again.

Never saw MoTD, but I'm interested to hear what they said about Benteke's movement. and the team's mentality of floating balls to him standing next to Collins. I know thw aftermath of the game yesterday turned into a Benteke sacrifice for some of us (!), but I'll say the same as I said about Mario last season - I DON'T BLAME HIM! He is what he is, and I'm puzzled as to why Rogers was so insistent on buying him if we had no idea how to use him. From Collymore to Keane, Diouf to Hately, Clough to Stewart, this club has a history of buying forwards and then trying to change them. The only time, off the top of my head, I can think of this truly working was when we bought Ray Kennedy and he turned out to be a fantastic left-half.

as it is, Benteke is £27m more expensive version of Lambert as a plan B. Utterly baffling. Bite the bullet Jurgen, get another striker in, get Origi, Studge (!) and Ings fit, then let Benny go. Yes, he'll come back and haunt us (especially with Skrtel at cb) but hopefully we'll have a team then that scores more goals than his team does.

Benteke love getting into the box :bandit:

I had my doubts when we forked out so much ( his release clause) for him. We play a different game to what he is used to. And if we have to play him, then we must play to his strengths.

Against west ham, we played a game that did not use his presence in the box. Whether it was west hams countering the system or a conscious decision by Klopp, we were nullified.
