Fair enough let's hope it doesn't happen as it would represent a bad shift in our ambitions selling our main players mid contract

 

Most of the players we've sold in recent years were mid-contract. Morgan's deal ran until 2017, Lallana was actually signed until 2018. Someone can correct me, but I believe to date that Clyne is the only one who was entering the final year of his deal.

 

I think Danny Fox was in his last year

 

When are there goals in our front 3?!! I'm not a fan of long and he's now our only goal threat!

 

Both will be off in the summer. If we can get around 50 mil for them then how could saints not sell? We'll spend 20 mil replacing them and hopefully they'll be good and we can hang in around the mid table mark.

 

Not sure whether it is a good thing or not...but doubt there will be the interest in most of our players this summer. We only sell to the top clubs (and Liverpool) and I don't think our players will be breaking down the doors to go to other clubs.

12 months ago, even 6 months ago, I'd have been all over that. But seeing him play a couple of times this season, he has looked absolutely appalling.

I suspect it is linked to the bad injury he picked up last season - he's hardly played for over 12 months as a result (and Bellerin's emergence in the meantime has meant that he's not been able to get back into the side now that he is available again). But in what way, I don't know. Is it just that he's lacking match fitness - similar to Jay - but could come good again after some regular football? (But given that we were getting no immediate benefits from playing an unfit Jay, why would we want to do something similar and play an unfit Debuchy? Especially as with Debuchy there would probably only be the here-and-now for us. At least with Jay, he'd still be a Saints player once he is properly fit again). Or is it that he's the wrong side of 30 anyway (albeit only just!), and that injury has just pushed him a whole lot closer to retirement?

 

Haha fonte could easily be in the top 3 of our goal scorers this year now!

 

Long's scored 7 for us this season, out of 15 appearances. And 3 for Ireland, out of 7 appearances.

For the record, Pelle has scored 9 from 21 appearances for us.

Ron hinting he wants more cash?

 

Don't blame him at all to be honest, judging by our transfer activity the last 2 summers our board certainly lack any real ambition. The slow and steady method is cute until we get left behind.

 

Long is playing very well at the moment through the middle rather than out wide. Still, is fonte our 3rd top scorer then?!
