Following on from twitter rumours of Norwich considering a move for Fer in January, are there any other ex-canaries you'd consider having back at the club? Shackell? Butterfield? Johnson? Martin? Someone who isn't at Derby?
If it wasn't for his off pitch history I'd take Chris Martin very happily. Fer is probably the best of our former players around. As we only lost two regular first team players when we got relegated there aren't many good former players out there, in fact I can't think of any former player currently in the premier league. However if we can include former loanees I would take Bertrand and Kane.
Ryan Bertrand - possibly Kyle Naughton (although he didn't play too well against us in November), Harry Kane definitely but not Fer - not for me. No thanks.
I would not take Fer back as he has already jumped ship once and it sets a bad precedent. Johnson is my pick but did we ever find out the reason he originally left? I know there were rumours of him seeing a bit too much of Mrs G but was that right? C. Martin was an enigma and really should have been up there with Kane and Vardy but always appeared lazy to me.
Always rated Steen Nedergaard when he played RB for us. And it wasn't always pretty , but Iwan Roberts always had goals in him.
I think Shackell could do a job for us. Think he looked pretty good in the Premiership. Plus Steer back would be nice. Plus when we get into Europe, they are both Homegrown players!
Do we actually miss Johnson? He was a good fighter last year but was very much a makeshift left winger. He wouldn't get into the starting XI and would probably struggle to make the bench with a fit squad.
Very true. Brady has been mainly excellent, Jarvis is nearing a return to fitness and we're linked with 20 year old Wolves left winger Jordan Graham as well?
I'd genuinely be half-tempted to take Jacob Butterfield back as long as he could stay fit! I really rate the guy.
Carrying on from this idea of bringing ex-canaries back and as many people are bring back players old players in their prime I've decided instead to construct a starting XI of ex-canaries in their prime Woods Culverhouse Drury Bruce Malky Eadie Peters M. O'Neill Fox Huckerby Ekoku I know different players played in different eras but it would be interesting to see of all the past City players who others would have in their starting line-ups regardless of which era they played in.
Not a bad line up but the 'keeper has to be Keelan, left back Bowen, I'd pair Bruce and Watson at the back and I'd have Holt and MacDougall up front
We've been blessed with some brilliant keepers right back to the fifties, but I have to agree KK was the best of them all!
