Really hoping Villa don't get Remy. Chelsea won't loan him out unless they bring in a couple of strikers. With Chelsea's money though, they could bring in 3 big names in Jan, and try and get him off the wage bill. He seems to stray offside a lot, and doesn't really fit Chelsea, but he proved what he could do at a poor QPR side.
The EDP has more on this. Martinez is concerned about Everton having 5 matches in the next 14 days so will probably block the move until then. It may also depend on their getting another player in, which seems logical. AN may have to decide on whether he wants to wait for Martinez's convenience. http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic..._says_everton_boss_roberto_martinez_1_4362548
Things like this annoy me. We are trying to do our business early and are offering good money, Naismith has been loyal but clearly wants to be playing football and could be doing so with us. Martinez has had him as backup up to now and has played him around 3 times I think!?!?! They have other options they could use without Naismith so surely they would be better off pocketing the money and being more proactive themselves? It almost feels like its a fashionable thing to leave your transfers till the last minute. I feel happy to be paying slightly over the odds to get Naismith in at the start of January but not getting him early means he will miss the best part of a quarter of our remaining games which is a substantial amount.
As the player is still contracted to Everton, I'm afraid it's Martinez who calls all the shots and there's precious little Naismith or NCFC can do about that. Be funny if McNally pulled out of the deal because Everton were dragging their feet instead of sanctioning it!
I really hope this Naismith deal goes through, but what has happened to Mirallas at Everton?! He was one of their key players last season and every time he plays he seems to create chances and has an excellent work rate, yet he's only started 2 games this season! A cheeky bid for him wouldn't go a miss!
McNally has said that they wouldn't be spending recklessly this window, or in other words they will be spending as little as possible. Don't get your hopes up lads only for them to be dashed yet again. Once more we're being linked with all and sundry but you can guarantee it's all total bollocks. Oh and £8M for Naismith would be spending recklessly IMO as I really don't see that he's that much better than what we already have and at his age we'd get two good seasons out of him at best. <flakjacketemoticon>
Interesting comments from McNally: http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/...ly_in_january_pledges_david_mcnally_1_4362291 Especially the point where he talks about spending "eyebrow raising" amount. If we believe what's going around, currently we have bids out of: £8m - Naismith £7.5m - Ranocchia £3.5m - Pinto So that's £19m already. There's still rumours floating around about an out and out striker and a replacement for Ruddy. McNally also indicated that we might well be selling a good few players. His confidence in the deals that will be done seems to say a lot of it is in the later stages.
The 'eyebrow raising amounts' will not necessarily be spent by us. Then again if we do spend £8M on Naismith I'll raise both of mine.
Interesting. Not heard a apparent fee for Ranocchia. That's a decent amount to be spending on a CB. Positive to hear.
Unusual for me I know mate, just trying to get some debate going, unfortunately I'm having trouble winding up the usual suspects atm.
I am mate! Go back on the 4th. Only holiday I get all year, so taking 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year
I pretty much exclusively am active on here whilst at work! Very rarely am I on here when I'm away from the office.
I read it that the eyebrow-raising sums will almost certainly NOT be spent by us, because, as usual, 'we're not mad like the other's who seriously want to stay in this league'. We're Norwich.
But Bamford would be a loan signing, though Chelsea would want a large amount of dosh. We have a loan position available as we have signed Jarvis, but i am not sure that he is the player to fit. Any loan will likely be finalised at the end of the window.
