Yes I agree about Defoe I just don't think him and Borini can play togeather and I'd have Borini over Defoe as things stand. Johnson's a waste of space imo, probably the biggest disappointment we've ever signed judging by the potential he had at the time. Townsend just needs to play week in week out then I reckon he'll be a good signing.
It would like Borini, be a controversial signing, and I dont like dealing with Levi at any time, if this soaks up money that should be spent elsewhere (defence) then its a no from me. If we still sign another four players that will improve our starting eleven then its a definite yes, we will see.
Townsend is something of an enigma, when he made his England debut I thought he would be the next Gareth Bale....he has pace, is very direct, takes people on and packs one hell of a shot on him. I just don 't understand what has happened to him at Spurs in the past year and a half <shrugs shoulders>
My take is JD and SF are a tried and tested partnership, but are fading and not reliable in a dog fight, plus their style of play does not fit comfortably with FB, DW or JL , under normal circumstances, with AJ in the attacking midfield role these are decent options but not suited to mixing or matching. Will we have AJ's services for the rest of the season, who knows, but I doubt very much that we will still have all of these options after the window closes. I sense changes, forced or otherwise are going to be made, maybe five or six, from the back to the front. Big bucks are at stake and Sam looks frustrated with his current options and who can blame him.
BBC saying Naismith has gone to Norwich £8mill, so guess its not against the rules, but reckon Townsend more chance of being a swap with WBA
that was a rumour of what they wanted... anywhere near that figure, im questioning both es and sa sanity.
Good signing if true, young and with the right attitude. AJ has not done it for ages, he has been distinctly average for over a season, SA does not want to play Lens for whatever reason so this is a logical signing. We need to improve on what we have, for me only: Pants, Kaboul, Mvilla, Watmore, Borini and Defoe are good enough for the first 11, the rest could all be replaced. The likes of Catts, Larsson, Fletcher and PVA are all fine as members of the squad but all could be back up for better options should they become available. We need at least 5 players this window and of those 3 should be defenders.
AT more effective than AJ & FB - also BSA is in a better position to judge than us - even if we are'nt too keen - we need to get behind the manager & team - blind faith time .
I just can,t understand why he,d want to come to us, on the England fringe and then signing for a club who look favourites to go down, must b something else like he,s shot or wants to work with big Sam, no chance of England if he,s in our side, otherwise it,s silly wage deal
He's far better than what we have. He's quicker, he's more direct, he's a better crosser and he gets a few goals. No ****ing way will he want to sign for us, yet here we are saying he's not good enough for our god awful side? The mind boggles like.
An improvement but it doesn't exactly give me a hard on. Another one who's stagnated like Johnson & Rodwell.
We are ****e mate, but our wide attacking players are arguably the strongest point of our team. Watmore, Borini, Johnson. Is he really that much of an upgrade? I don't think he is
Christ, I was thinking 5m - 7m. That couldn't possibly be true, it won't be even remotely close to that figure...
