He's delusional if he thinks we worked hard.

Tell the boys to go get the ball, and then, to hold on to it. How about that?

Sorry for letting it get on my tits. :emoticon-0121-angry

Possession stats are the most irrelevant of all irrelevant stats in football.

It's simple. We failed to hold onto the ball and work opportunities. Each time we had the ball we gave away possession - through one means or another within 4 passes or fewer; all game long.

We were slow to press Huddersfield and it took until the 40th minute for us to identify and press them at goal kicks to stop them working the ball from the back.

The experiment of Dániel Tőzsér, Karl En-Ree and Sandro Raineire all defensive minded players was odd considering we were at home.

I think JFH could have 'put the ball at risk' more by deselecting one of the above - perhaps Dániel Tőzsér - and in doing so make room for a striker by playing Jay Emmanuel Thomas or Sebastian Polter.

To play with no striker at home is unforgivable. For Ian who has come from Australia looking forward to a rare visit, feel for yer mate :emoticon-0106-cryin

They are quite relevant for that game though. We started with 6 midfielders and yet were totally out-passed for the entire game. If Huddersfield had more punch up front they would have slaughtered us!

Was Toszer actually playing? I didn't notice him. My eye was taken by Karl Henry playing in virtually every position except the one he is most suited to, right back.

Henry's current contract states that he can play whenever and wherever he pleases. He'll be rush goalie next week

Not to the paying punter they're not!
I can't comment on today's performance as I wasn't there. I can comment on the result which if based on the 'irrelevant stat of possesion' would be classed as a good one.
I have no real expectations of promotion nor ever had despite the non sale of Green (who is crap anyway) Fer (has he ever had a good spell) Phillips (decent on his day) and Austin. It's a team game and if that team consists of Green, konchesky, perch, Henry, toszer, hill ( no offence he has been good for us in the PAST) then I don't expect us to roll teams over.
The ONLY way forward for our club is to blood the likes of Kpekwa, Furlong, Doughty and the youngsters to play NOW with our so called bigger named players. Then we will have the basis of a team.

Still setting up for 0-0 and changing it 12 mins from the end hasn't woked all season but what the hell.

Madness is defined by repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results.

    Carry on.

This season's now pretty much a right off so yes if we're looking towards next season then lets blood some youngsters + some of the current fringe players Luongo, Chery, YSY maybe bring Gladwin back to see whether he can make it at this level..

Huddersfield looked like a better team.We have a serious lack of skill and speed.I see Green is still chucking the ball into his own net!. Is it just me or is Chery probably our most skillful playmaker?....Austin is going and we look ****. At least the darts has started on the box!

    Spot on sb_73.

I said the same today to the fellow next to me; that Nedum Onuoha isn't a natural full back - so why not push On-Ree back there for another stint. I think he showed great discipline last time he covered that role.

Does that mean we don't turn up in the first half?
If that's the case, we have problems cause I'm led to believe we go missing in the last 20 minutes.
Based on that, we play 25 minutes of football every game and we wonder why we haven't won lately?

Tell that to the masterminds of possession like Barcelona, who have based the entirety of their success on possession.

But yes sometimes counterattackers win. But we don't do that either. So, why not become a possession team? Especially in the last 20 minutes when we are winning. Lets just not lose the ball. Lets keep it more often than not, and let the other team come get it and hack us with fouls.
