Looks like we're (kinda) going viral. There were articles yesterday on the Daily Mail and Mirror websites, it's in their print versions today, and it's also in today's Metro, so everyone travelling into London for work will see the story. Hopefully this will give us a big upsurge, and maybe a few medical specialists will see the story and offer to help out where they can. Thanks for the continued support guys. Chaz
Had a great fundraising night Friday, raising over £8,500. Looks like it will all be needed, because there's more cancer than was initially thought, so the treatment is going to be more intense and lengthy. Let's keep hoping for a positive outcome. Thanks again for all the help.
Hi all, just thought it was worth posting an update now things football-wise have gone a little quiet. Nina's doing really well - this update from her husband Ed really tells her story: *** Round 6 kicking the crap out of cancer today with my gorgeous Nina. We've just had breakfast and she is ready to take another 5 hours of chemo and Avastin. What most of you don't know is she then has a pump fitted she takes home which infuses drugs for another 48 hours. She gives herself blood thinner injections and white blood cell injections every day and tablets each day on schedule morning, noon & evening! Through this she never moans or complains of one single thing (except understandably my cooking skills!) I know you all see Nina as 'amazing' to go through with this, but trust me, if you'd been there each day you'd realise that the word 'amazing' doesn't even come close! *** As I say, just a quick update and another opportunity to say thanks for all the interest, donations, positive thoughts/prayers, and encouragement. It's a long road but it's being walked with a smile and a massively positive attitude.
So pleased about this and the lady's positive attitude is so so refreshing. Good luck in the future and hope she is fighting fit soon X And football wise we meet next season

The only away match I went to last season was at Loftus Road. We were staying in a hotel near the tube (can't remember the name ...but posh). Our kid (over from aussie) and I were walking from the ground straight after the match mingling with Rangers fans. We had our city shirts on display. Out of the blue this little lad (aged about 7) came to the side of me and said "well played mister". I looked round to see a giant of a guy (6ft 13" and probably his Dad). I shook the lads hand and said thank you and then turned to his Dad and put my thumb up. That lad will grow up a true football fan respecting other teams due to his Dad. Respect from me for that....I am welling up now...who's moved the tissues.
Quick bump and update, because you've been so supportive... Today, Nina started on the clinical trial of the new treatment over at the specialist Cancer Centre in Tennessee. The lengthy chemo has obviously taken an emotional toll as well as it's physical effects, but she's very strong, very positive, and one of the most up-beat people you could ever hope to meet. Many of you will remember my post above about my friend Nina, who was diagnosed with cancer when 32 weeks pregnant. It's been a great year for them, with the birth of little Teddy, her treatment going very well, and her wedding a few weeks back to Ed. Christmas gave them another nice treat. You will all have heard the Christmas No 1, by the NHS Choir. Well, Ed is the guitarist on the track and is featured in the video. Capping off such a year by playing on the Christmas No 1 isn't too shabby!!
Nice to hear from you Chaz. I actually had no idea NHS staff were No1 but then I probably live under a rock somewhere. Great to hear Nina's on the mend and its clearly been a great effort from all her loved ones to help get to this point, so we'll done to all of you. I've spent a lot of time in hospitals myself this year due to my dad being unwell and I personally cannot praise the staff highly enough. I know there are complaints, but in my experience at least, so many have gone over and above what I expect and continue to so. Anyway mate, let's hope 2016 goes well for all of us. I'd echo those sentiments when my Mum went into hospital last year after what proved to be a fatal brain haemorrhage. The staff in the ICU unit were outstanding, when she went onto the ward for palliative care until the end we were given a room to sleep in for around the clock care. I slept about 4 consecutive nights in that hospital and the staff were all outstanding. It's a highly emotive job, as Mum spent her final days on the brain injury ward, seeing other patients - it's certainly not a job I could do, or would like to do. Even the Doctors having to tell us the family that there was zero chance of recovery, incredibly difficult to deliver news like that and extinguish all family hope and that life support would be withdrawn. An incredibly difficult thing to face and to deal with. My Mum was pretty young at having just turned 60. For me the NHS is incredible, we may gripe about it at times, but the conditions they work under would test the patience of a saint. Brilliant news about Nina. Stay well everyone. Happy New Year.
